What are you watching???

I took a break last night from TV and binged a few indie movies on Hulu.

Please Stand By - I noticed this had a Trek storyline and put it on my list a while ago. It was a pretty moving indie with a ton of solid actors. The ratings are low 6/10 on IMDB, but I didn't find anything really wrong with it. All I know is Patton Oswalt and Dakota Fanning speaking Klingon was amazing, and the tidbits of the script the character was putting together sounded really intriguing.

Ingrid Goes West - I enjoyed Aubrey Plaza on Parks and Rec so I figured I would give this a shot. It is a pretty creepy dark comedy that exposes the more stalker-ish qualities of social media, but it also has some good acting. I probably would never watch again, but the cast carried it through.

I was surprise by his success. I thought David Hewlett might have gotten somewhere with his directing but things seemed to have stopped after Debug though he had a small role in the shape of water.

Yeah. I mean some of the cast has certainly had huge success in television - Amanda Tapping stands out the most with her continued directing in Supernatural, Travelers, etc. - but Momoa just hit his stride with Game of Thrones and looks to have a fairly solid career ahead.

I'm hoping they move forward with development for The Crow, and we see a solid leading role for the guy.

Chuck and Warehouse 13 had some great comedic writers. I binged both of those pretty fast. Also the chemistry between both pairs of leads was so solid. It is weird watching The Handmaid's Tale and seeing Yvonne Strahovski in that role. All I think of with her is Chuck.

A quote I read about Warehouse 13 a while back was "lightning in a bottle" and I think that was from Saul Rubinek, the guy that played Artie. The cast just seemed to gel so well together and you could see it in the show that they all just seemed to get on really well with each other. I think that's part of why the show is so likeable.

Was surprised seeing him in Dark Matter but playing a bad guy.

I was bummed out by the ending of season 3 I wanted more.

Same here. I did wonder if David was suppose to be in season 3 but was unavailable so they brought in the other guy who's name I forget.
Funny thing is I've just watched SGA harmony and it took me a second to work out who was playing Harmony.:D

Well the show was cancelled last year so I wonder if there is hope of it coming back via another way. I wonder if they have tried pitching to another network.

Dammit I hate shows ending like that.

They tried to sell it to someone else but no luck so the show is officially dead.
Which was a shame because I really wanted to know what happened next.
I Should know better than to get into a show on the sci-fi channel.

It was based off a graphic novel so there is that. The story did continue there as that was where the series came from so not sure if the plots were the same but I guess if you want to see who those aliens were that might be a place to look.

Check out the last two seasons of DEXTER if you want to see her play another very different role.

I tried starting Frontier with Jason Momoa, but I can't really get into it right now. I think I'm binged out from too many dramas. Going to switch over to some movies maybe or re-watch some old comedies like 30 Rock.

Been catching up on Succession on HBO Go... very good show, although there's really nobody to root for in the Roy family... they're pretty much all douchebags

Who is America?

Saw VII: The Final Chapter

This is probably the second weakest movie after the first one, but it was ok. Like pretty much every other horror film with variations of "The Final Chapter" in its title its not actually the last movie, and hopefully Jigsaw is a bit faster paced and has better traps, because this movie was just kind of passable, and I say that as a fan of the series.
