Misheard Lyrics

AC/DC “Hell’s Bells”. I thought Sam was going to get me.

And “Money Talks” I thought it was “Come on, come on, Living for the Money”

On the subject of Toto's Africa, back in the 80s, I originally heard "I catch the rays down in Africa" think that it referred to being on holiday in Africa. It seemed to flow into the next line in the chorus better.

The first line of the Australian national anthem is "Australians all let ostriches". True story.

Advance Australia Fair is a complete rip off of Why Was He Born So Beautiful. It's a National secret

So close they're not exactly misheard, but in the Smith's "How Soon is Now?" I thought "I am the son and the heir" was "I am the sun and the air."

From Elton John's "Razor Face":

Has anybody here seen Razor Face?
I heard he's back looking for a place to lay down
Must be getting on . . .

Did anyone else hear the second line as "He hurt his back looking for a place to lay down"?

One I just found out I have had wrong for 40-something years is in Carly Simon's monster hit "You're So Vain." I thought it was:

"You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself go by."

But it's really
"as you watched yourself gavotte."

Gavotte?!

Simon: “A gavotte is a French dance. I thought I would use a word that was slightly presumptuous. It rhymed with what I needed it to rhyme with. He’s gavotting because that’s what a pretentious, vain man would do. But he’s not at the French court, he’s at my sister’s house.

Not lyrics, but on the news they have been talking about flooding:

"Don't drive around barriers."

I heard:

"Don't drive around bear caves."

Well....yeah....don't do that either.

:borg:

The Monster by Eminem/Rihana the lyrics are
And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy
Well, that's nothin'

Instead I always hear
And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy
Well, that's not fair

Guess it works either way

I always thought Carly Simon and Bread had this thing about chewing tobacco.

"Don't you"

I heard

"Don't chew"

"I'ma want you"

I heard

"I'ma want chew"

The 'Beech Nut' wars or something....:shifty:
