Discovery Size Argument™ thread

It is possible that it is really not instantaneous, merely so fast that on the distances they've jumped it appears so, and it would only become apparent on longer jumps.

Obviously this won't be considered canon as it wasn't 'on screen', but I'll post it here anyways as a conversation maker

Lol.
The USS Anime-prise really IS the most ridiculous starship in all of Star Trek! :guffaw:

How is this any more ridiculous than, say, Snoke's super-duper-pooper-scooper star destroyer? If you're in charge of an Empire, you get all the good toys.

And that's because the network was "injured". During the 133 jumps, the ship took a slight pause in the spore network before it reappeared. When they jumped while at warp (and that's just...annoying in itself) they skipped the rest of the warp flight to that star system with about the same momentary delay.

So I think they'd have to jump galaxies away (riding the network for "longer"/more branches of it) to give any real delay in the process. My point was that you can't have a speed estimate on something that has ~0 interval of travel nomatter where it goes.

Actually, did they ever imply a delay in Galactica's jump drive during the series?

Oh, and um, what happens if two ships with some kind of similar drive try to arrive at nearly the same point? say had Starfleet managed to equip several ships with the sporedrive and they rushed to a star system to render aid, are all the exit points in mushroom space the same?

Because I don't want to see what happens when starships start splinching.
Heh...
STO has already been there, done that.

Yes, that makes sense for the Empire.
Yeah, a Mirror Universe Empire in it's prime would be the ones to make insane OTT Super Star Destroyer-sized ships. It's only a shame that the budget never let us explore it. I wanted chases through the Halo habitat ring, explorations of the lower levels. Instead we only visit one or two rooms at the very top and then blow it up. Shame.

While watching their latest video a thought occurred to me....

IF, the picture we saw awhile ago of a split-level bridge IS the ENTERPRISE bridge, then the side windows shown with their 'to scale' figure would be on the upper level of that design.
A RADICAL DEPARTURE from the TOS bridge to say the least. 8-/

It would also make the lower level line up with the forward lit slit area.

I'm seriously thinking after this trailer that we won't see the Enterprise bridge, at least not until the end of the season and the big adult Spock/Burnham meeting

My main question is, what is the power cost of Discovery's shuttlebay hanging open day and night? that forcefield must be a serious drain.

Bridges are modular ;)
