I would think that by now a person would know to grind all or any IP logo and trademarks off. If not, I can't help them.

It's all an insidious plot to derive money from people by selling them coffee!
By USING the popularity of the Star Trek IP - Something the settlement specifically stated was NOT allowed by Alec Peters or Axanar Productions. Be interesting to see if CBS/Paramount do anything WRT that.

I hope CBS is taking notes. Because if there's anything that legally ties AP to the coffee shop deal and there's even a hint of copyright or trademark violation, I'd be all over it like stink on a skunk's hairy ass. :techman:

Considering that the coffee was itself used against Alec in court as proof of trying to profit from Trek IP, I'm honestly a little surprised that Hansa Coffee would want to do any business with him at all. It makes me wonder how Alec must've spun this to convince Kevin Kane to work with him again. Certainly, it would make me not want to do business with Hansa, since this smacks of a lack of diligence on the corporate level.

I suspect the use of the five pointed star could be argued as being in the public domain, but he used the stylized one that's specifically trademarked IP, used as the command insignia star. That alone would probably be enough to bury him for good.

To me, the coffee shop is a legitimate business, and I applaud Alec's girlfriend for actually working for a living.
I suspect that Alec is "trolling" his critics by publicizing the coffee shop, and using his (very limited) fan base to drum up some business, but beyond that, this is just a business venture.

To be fair, this looks like a new business venture, with names that happened to be linked to the Axanar story in the past.

No nefarious dealings on the surface of the article. After all, I'm sure Alexs' attorney has other clients, for example. If he depends on Alex for his income, oh boy!

All quiet at the Neutral Zone, move onto the next sector of our patrol. ;)

Well, I trust social sites and blog news stories about as much as the EX spouse. If I was a couple thousand miles closer, I'd drop in for a brew and see for myself.

Hey, now. She was off-limits in the old thread, so she should be here, too.

No more mention of his girlfriend(s), wife, ex-wives, boyfriend, husband, friends-with-benefits, or alien love-beast.
Ok, I was with ya til ya brought up the love-beast. :)

I'm uncomfortable with the animosity generated at anything and anyone AP is associated with. If you're going to condemn him for what he's done, that's fine. I'll add my sentiments as well. You've gone after Treklanta, you've gone after the Honor Harrington convention, and now you're going after his friends for opening a coffee shop. For goodness' sake, give it a break guys. Are you going next after his dentist for cleaning his teeth?

If the dentist has an Axanar branded spit sink, sure. :techman:
