Starship design history in light of Discovery

That could mean anything

The warp reactor =/= Warp engines
Of course, it could mean anything if you don't want to think about it. Or, that's just bullshit in a basket. Put a bow on it and sell it for a fiver.

Oh, sure, the warp reactor is bad mojo. The nacelles that generate incredibly powerful space-time distortion fields are A-OK. Bring your children! It's fun for the whole family.

The delta rays? You don't want to be the one going in there, bringing out all those kids that were still alive. Just wanted you gentlemen to be prepared.

The episodes where you see the ship and the nacelles are on long pylons away from the ship.

Also TMP and WoK where they wear radiation suits when near the warp reactor.

Also ENT: "The Catwalk"

The Steamrunner class disagrees.

Also the Intrepid (NX-01 era old nacelles) where they're hovering feet above the saucer.

But the nacelles are still aft and outside. The Bussard collectors are near habitable areas, yes. I was happy they named one the Thunder Child.

Yup, besides, in War of the Worlds (the book), the HMS Thunderchild was an ironclad that rammed a tripod to protect a convoy, sinking in the process. Not terribly heroic as presumably the other two tripods now had no opposition to destroy the convoy and march on the English coast.

And the Steamrunners main plasma junction connections to the nacelles are right next to the main shuttle bay, engineering and the reactor, still not the best design.

I didn't know there was a Galaxy class in DSC!
