Seems pretty obviousWhy are Who fans always obsessed with 'who's next?'
This thread should not even exist. Thirteen has only just taken her first breaths and Whittaker has yet to put her mark on the role. Why are Who fans always obsessed with 'who's next?' when the current has yet to take up the role properly?
Romana wore blue well... Apparently it's an excepted colour, tho we've not seen any other time Lord's wear blue bodies. Romana's regen in the Destiny of the Daleks shows a timelord can regen into any humanoid species. Tall and Greek, short and blue, or a former princess body. Either way, the doctor can become any scale or color or gender.I would be all for blue skin...but the next Doctor doesn't need to have blue skin.
It shows a lack of respect and a lack of confidence in the actor. I have been a fan since Tom Baker and I have never once speculated on the next Doctor.
Again, I'm not saying The Doctor can't have blue skin. All I'm saying is that the next incarnation of The Doctor doesn't need to have blue skin as you emphatically stated in all caps.Romana wore blue well... Lack of respect? Even she is the greatest of them all she will still be gone in 3 or 4 years. That is if they keep the current tradition going. Maybe 3 or 4 years simply doesn't seem like that big of a passage of time to me. Or that I am American and we basically start speculating on who the next American President or potential challenger is like what seems like 5 minutes after the current guy is sworn in. Hell we have a whole forum here talking about speculating the future of Trek and sometimes it comes true. People have been talking about a possible Academy show since at least the late 80's when that was seen as a possible TOS movie or new show. People are always going to wonder, what comes next!

Put it this way...how would you feel if you got a new job and people started taking bets on how long you stay & who will take your role before you even start?
Renewal and regeneration are core to the programme, but 'fans' need to give any new Doctor some slack. We didn't have any of this crap in the 80s...and I went to plenty of conventions when Doctor Who was shunned by even the most ardent geek.
