Kathleen Kennedy Damaging Star Wars....?

You'd have a laugh at someone losing employment?

Given the franchise has been a massive success under her, I suspect any "voluntary move" she might make will be exactly that, most likely to avoid the personal abuse she's been getting and the embarrassingly infantile behaviour of a minority within the fanbase, as did George Lucas.

I do hope when she and others working in the franchise read the drivel we've seen they do at least realise how much the rest of us would love to distance ourselves from it and really appreciate the work they've done.
Good point. What message was sent by Lucas leaving LFL? I wonder if the joy and glee was there for his departure as well?

It was more the two extremes of ‘rage’ (he’s greedy and soulless!) and a dash of ‘condescending pity’ (its sad, but he could have avoided this if he’d just blah blah blah I watch alot of YouTube.)

There was some that were rather vicious in their glee over Lucas apparently paying attention to them. Funny enough, they’re now mostly the ones clamouring hardest for him to come back.

Warning for trolling. Comments to PM. And the "comments" portion applies to everybody, check? ;)

What's amusing is I post here so infrequently. You're a far more active poster than I on a Star Trek message board, and you're using the argument of a "life so empty" . We don't really need to go there.

Let's be real. I don't actually care about Star Wars. I'm more fascinated about the drama behind the scenes and the studio politics. This Kathleen Kennedy mess plays right into what I'm interested in. So yes, the fallout from this mess does put a smile on my face.

So what? They are focused on the behind the scenes drama of this franchise, not the actual Star Wars narrative.

All of those four are incredibly awesome, and not areas of concern ;)

But the fact that you're trying to focus this on me personally shows that deep down you are starting to realize that it is very likely Kathleen will be indeed fired, and you are trying to downplay the significance of that outcome to save face.

I'm happy with the message it sends. And yes, it will happen within the year. I'm sure you're looking forward to my posts when it's announced. ;)

It's Hollywood. People lose their jobs all the time. We aren't talking about a small fish who's an intern for a studio. Kathleen will get some other job somewhere else and still make more than a living, while Star Wars will get some fresh perspective and a chance to move away from her toxic direction.

Everyone wins.

And you guys get so worked up and emotional, that you have to reply and post back to defend your point of views.

Trust me, if I'm supposedly 'obsessed' as you claim, that assessment doesn't shine you guys in a favourable light either. Obviously, you're just as invested, if not moreso... just with the opposite perspective on the matter.

You should probably go back and re-read those posts. Like I said, I'm interested in the drama behind the scenes when it comes to these films. That's fascinating to me. Especially with a toxic figure like Kathleen Kennedy, and the divisiveness from her leadership. It will be amusing to see the fallout from that in the upcoming months, and I'll definitely get a good laugh when she 'departs.'

I actually don't give a damn about Star Wars as a narrative at this point. It's just...stupid. I can appreciate the original trilogy's part in film-making history, but the films that have come after have just exposed how silly and juvenile SW is.

Yep. My store closes for good tomorrow (the 27th) and they still have dozens of the 6" Black Series Reys with Speeders on their consolidated clearance shelves of Star Wars merchandise. There was still a Constable Zuvio there the other day. And that doesn't include all the unsold toy lightsabers and 3.75" ships and vehicles that nobody wanted either at full price or 70% markdown.
You are a collector, Eddie - has the toy market changed? Are "kids these days" as interested in buying SW or other action figures and ships?

Yes. And no. When they're given variety and quality at an acceptable retail price and are made to feel invested in a toy line you see strong support for toys from the under-18 crowd. Legos and TMNT always see strong sales and popularity with kids.

The Star Wars brand has suffered in recent years, though, with very hit-or-miss quality and a very unfocused vision of what action figures, ships, vehicles and other toys should be. Ineffective and cheapskate leadership at Hasbro has resulted in a toy license that has largely stayed static or even regressed since 2012 with the exception of the 6" line of figures. The market is there but the current leadership of Hasbro just doesn't know what it's doing at times. Even the quality of the packaging has suffered in recent years.

Not sure which thread to post this in, but this article from IO9/Gizmodo regarding Hamil's comments about Luke's journey. It's a fascinating discussion of his point of view, and how it shifted regarding Luke Skywalker's journey. I may not agree with all of it, but the point stands-the idealism of Luke Skywalker and his failure in TLJ is reflective of the current times, as art often does.

Interesting read: https://io9.gizmodo.com/and-now-heres-mark-hamill-with-a-truly-grim-realizatio-1827138948

...Are we sure that didn’t originate as a copypasta making fun of these guys?

Life is getting so ridiculous, that I’m practically made of carbs these days.

Just to bulletproof us against any potential liability problems: How do you feel about having electrodes jabbed into your neck, a brain transplant, and lots of lightning?

As someone who is already a Corpse, I highly recommend Borg Nanoprobes instead. Much neater and require less expensive infrastructure. :D

Honestly if your enjoyment of Star Wars depends on it being focused on a white male hero and no one else, then you deserve to have it ripped away from you.

Maybe that's why they keep insisting Rey is a Mary Sue, ironically showing that they have absolutely no understanding of what a Mary Sue is on any level. They want a Gary Sue, a white one, so they can use him to live out their fantasies of being a hero and not a pathetic loser. But Rey is a girl and they lack the basic empathy that allows one to relate to people who aren't like them, so they hate her.

What the—?!?

Clickbait for sure, and as the article states, “sketchy” as it utilizes Grace Randolph’s YouTube channel as a source. I don’t follow her but from what I’ve seen, she’s just a mouthpiece for this movement. This is just pathetic how far people are going over a damned movie!

Reminds me of Simon Pegg's rants and how much its funny that he ends up in Episode VII.

Nope. It's real. The rebellion is real

Can we get Patton Oswalt to read this like his Star Wars rant on "Parks and Recreation"?

*sighs*

I know I should be mad, but for now I’m just stuck on that version of the Rebel’s insignia looking like my neices coloured it in with connect-a-pens.

Seriously. Does it look odd to anyone else, or is it just my screen?
