Whenever I see statements like that I'm certain the speaker is referring just to the narrative elements.
The visual changes are (I think) simply intended as an updating of production values and will likely never be addressed in-universe

I agree in relation to the ships and uniforms etc (although I could get really picky about that!). The problem here (as ever) is Enterprise - as it made the look of the Klingons part of the narrative. The look of the DSC Klingons would therefore demand an explanation - although I won’t demand one just yet haha!

Quick, we need a thread!

In this world of DSC's visual reimagining though, we have no idea what the augment virus infected Klingons looked like. ENT depicted them as transforming into swarthy human lookalikes, whereas in DSC's visual history the disease may simply have robbed them of a few extra head bumps, or perhaps caused a bit of facial hair to sprout: IOW, just enough difference for them to appear different to their fellow Klingons (and to visiting Starfleet officers from the 24th century) but not so much as to cause them to stand out from the crowd in background shots

That’s the benefit of a reboot I guess :)

Since it's most likely that Disco will never involve augments or augment Klingons, that really doesn't matter.
True. We can infer that based on the fact that there’s been nothing in DSC from established visual continuity. It’s its own thing - which I’m cool with overall.

It was much more radical than that, and rather unsettling--

That is my interpretation of their comments thus far. They seem to think the big things like sets and ships are ripe for re-design (we have the budget now they could only dream of), but try to ensure things like props are as close to canon as they can get. Now we have only seen the exterior of the Enterprise so far, and we expect the interiors to be mostly re-used Discovery ones. And they continue talking about reconciling canon, so who knows what they may come up with. But with so many changes to the production teams, the new multi-show contract with Kertzman, may give them the freedom to introduce an alternate timeline, or to make other shows which take place at the same time as TNG, while re-imagining those eras too. So this could be an anomaly, or the start of a total visual refresh of all the "Prime Timeline"

Lol
Serious point though...the canonicity doesn’t matter, I brought it up as a response to the idea ‘prime’ Was a fan construct. It isn’t. There’s the producers of a piece of Trek using it right there. Did Nimoy have control of how he was credited? He probably does tbh. It puts to bed ‘Prime is something made up by gatekeeper fans’ altogether.

If they are, Voq was definitely played by Javid Iqbal :klingon:

Which he was. The name was chosen by the actor as a screen name. Bill Murray isn’t always billed as bill on the bill, for example. Siddig El Fadil is also Alexander Siddig, is also something long I never remember, but everyone calls him Sid. Etc.
