Massive disconnect between the suits and the SW fan base? Ugh.

Disney probably wants SW to maintain solid, broad, popular appeal irrespective of how a wing of fandom with a sense of entitlement and a toxic attitude feels about what they're doing. If I were in Disney's shoes, that's exactly what I would want.

Solo is the first major stumble SW has ever had. Hopefully, Disney will listen to Yoda's advice and learn what this failure to live up to expectations has to teach them.

Knowing how studios have previously handled failure, you can certainly expect Episode 9 to be a safe blanket of a movie, giving fans EXACTLY what they want. Hopefully Disney is better than that, but... I doubt it.

There's definitely a massive disconnect between the executives and creatives... with the SW fan base.

Fortunately Marvel Studios doesn't have this problem.

Hopefully when Kathleen's regime ends, the next team takes more influence from the way Kevin Feige is handling things with Marvel/Disney, and his positive relationship with the fans.

Last time the studio listened to the fans Lucas quit.

A subscription costs $45 a year, but the folks at fan site Dork Side of the Force recently shared a supposed excerpt from the newsletter which claims that Kathleen Kennedy's days are numbered and that she will be out in just a matter of months. The excerpt reads as follows.

"While Kathleen Kennedyworked wonders relaunching this property from the abyss of the Lucas prequel trilogy and turning it into a bigger than ever all-devouring cultural force, there has to be more than some thought that it's time for new blood at the helm. The talk out there is of a September changing of the guards. We'll see."

If true I hope it’s on positive terms. I wish her well and I’m sure she will land on her feet in Hollywood.

I know it’s off topic, but I’m just bamboozled how that model works for a newsletter which is apparently a ‘piss and vinigar’ rag that’s been compared to Deadline and Gawker.

I agree completely. He once said he was going to make some stuff that he would only show to his close friends, in his basement. I want to see that.

Although it is for people who still use non-professional-related email newsletters. Maybe that explains it.

Disney sees the big picture and won't want to risk brand damage and fatigue to one of their most expensive and important IPs. Especially with more films on the drawing board, the Disney SW park opening, more games on the horizon, and more toys and merch coming soon (despite declining and disappointing sales lately).

They need to build positivity instead of diminishing returns, and also have a good relationship with the fanbase. It's a tall order, but Kathleen isn't the woman to do it.

Plenty of outlets and channels disagree with that, from Jeremy Jahns to Collider. At this point, Lucasfilm's relationship with the fans is now a matter of debate and division. That's not where it should be, and I'm confident Disney will recognize this and make the right call soon.

Don't anybody have a heart attack but I really do not get all the disrespect for Kathleen Kennedy. Well maybe a little, but not enough to crucify the poor woman.
Then again I did say I wouldn't support someone who would continue their support of Rian Johnson.
I don't know. Lucas did hire her personally so that he could sweeten his deal with Disney. Do we even know if she's happy there? Maybe she could just go back to Spielberg where she belongs and where together they produced some of the finest movies of my childhood. That would have to be a better way to finish out one's career than having to put up with this shit every day.

I wouldn’t blame her in the slightest for stepping away. She doesn’t need this. It wouldn’t stop those who want KK’s head on a pike from suggesting they won and suggest some sort of conspiracy theory that she really got fired, but what can ya do?

It is still all rumor from gossip rags though so time will tell.
