Paramount havn't even bothered to send a reply to me.
Neither their headquarters in the US, nor any local representants in the European countries.
The local company which sells these boxes have been quite helpful but what to do when the new discs they send me are as faulty as the old ones.
This has been going on since 2013 for me.
The same thing when your disc wont play?I've considered to doing so.
But what will happen if I want to see a particular episode and then being met with a message saying "Sorry, this particular show is no longer available here" or "Our services aren't allowed for people outside the US".
Yes, but they can still cancel certain programs without any warnings. The same thing when your disc wont play?
Netflix is international
If you check my comments in those threads in the links below, then you will see that I did everything possible to solve the problems.I hope this doesn't sound stupid but have you tried to blow on them or even wipe them with a cloth? That trick I think has worked for me in the past. Also we use to have a Hastings store here and I could take a disk to them and they would put it in this machine that cleans any scratches. That usually worked but not all the time.

Whatever works for you. I find the quality on Netflix better and it always works. I can watch shows whenever i want on any device...my phone, tablet, laptop or tv. It only costs a few dollars a month. Or split the cost with someone since you can have multiple profiles. My whole family shares one Netflix account.Yes, but they can still cancel certain programs without any warnings.
I want to be in control, that's why I prefer to have my own DVD:s.
Considering that I have to pay a nice sum of money for them, I expect them to work and don't start malfunctioning the first or second time I watch an episode.
Well, it might be an option if more and more episodes will become unwatchable on my latest set of DVD:s.Whatever works for you. I find the quality on Netflix better and it always works. For Netflix, aside from DS9 & Voyager, all the SD versions of the episodes should be downconvertrd 480p versions from the 1080p masters. On Netflix and iTunes DS9 & Voyager are de-interlaced 480p versions (which were horribly de-interlaced) of the 480i masters. The TNG, DS9 and Voyager DVD’s are straight 480i transfers the original 480i master tapes.
No DS9 & Voyager on DVD is better than DS9 on Netflix or iTunes (Prime, whatever streaming service as they use the same files from CBS). Even a $25 upconverting DVD player from Walmart will give you a better de-interlaced 480p or upscaled 1080p/720p image than the garbage on Netflix/iTunes.I have no idea what you just said!So your saying that DS9 on Netflix is better than the Dvd's? How about Amazon Prime and Hulu which also have the shows? PLus does it matter if youe watching on a Firestick or other device? For some reason to me DS9 looks better on my Samsung BLu ray player which you can get the Netflix app than when I watch it at the other places or even on Netflix on the Firestick. Seems more colorful and vibrant.

Also I would add tthat on my tv which is a 50 inch tv I set the settings to Brightness at 80 and Color at either 80 or 90. Seems to me that works well for Stargate season 1 and 2 so far as well which I have been watching on Hulu.

I’ve never watched Stargate, but considering it’s from the 90’s the early seasons are probably in 480i, unless they were done on film and have been rescanned. Is this the case also for "Stargate" The early seasons have looked more dodgy than I recall. Granted they improved by doing those things I mentioned but I would hope the DVD's might be better. Not sure why they didn't get upgraded to BLu Rays either when "Atlantis" did. Not sure about "Destiny."

I bought the three first seasons of Voyager in 2006 and all discs are still in excellent shape. No DS9 & Voyager on DVD is better than DS9 on Netflix or iTunes (Prime, whatever streaming service as they use the same files from CBS). Thing is DS9 an Voyagers current masters were done at 480i (and the were done in composite video), which for TV is the “bottom of the ladder”. 480p is “the next wrung” on that ladder. TOS, TAS, TNG and Enterprise all have masters from “higher up the ladder”, so they look fine when going down to 480p. Now while 480i converted to 480p will never look as good as stuff done at 480p, or higher resolutions that are then converted down, there are two ways to get a 480i to 480p conversion. One (and this is the one CBS seems to have used because it’s the cheapest, plus they could just load the already created DVD video files) is to load the video into an editing program and have it “spit out” a 480p file where it has basically taken half the image and junked it and then recreated the missing image by duplicating the r remaining image. So you are essentially trying to watch video that is being upscaled to 480p or 1080p level from a 240p video.
The second and more expensive is to get the actual tapes, hook the VCR up to a hardware device that is specifically designed to work with the full video image and de-interlace and upscale the video before sending it to a computer. DVD & Blu Ray players have cheaper versions of these hardware de-interlacers & upscalers built into them.
And in the case of TNG on DVD, CBS was just being cheap with reusing the 2002 DVD masters when they reissued the DVD’s in 2013.
i have been looking to possibly get the series on new Dvd's. My older set I bought and they were used. There are still episodes I have never seen completly due to the dvd's not playing correctly.
When I look on line there seem to be a lot if complaints of this from each and every vendor and configuration.
Is there a good, complete series set out there to buy that functions completly?
Unfortunately there are lots of DVDs like that, not just DS9. Fast forward is your friend. (At least they are fast forwardable, unlike 5 minutes of looking at a dozen different producing companies' splash screens at the beginning.)
You can get the rest of them so much cheaper nowI bought the three first seasons of Voyager in 2006 and all discs are still in excellent shape.
I've had the original discs since they came out, or in the case of Voyager and Enterprise since about 2007. The only set that I've had issues with was Voyager's season 7, the last disc developed DVD rot, so Endgame will not play. However, the Fan Collective sets that I have have Endgame on at least 2 of the sets, so I just use those.I bought the three first seasons of Voyager in 2006 and all discs are still in excellent shape.
