"5 Reasons Kathleen Kennedy Needs To Step Down From Lucasfilm" By John Campea

I feel like there was more stuff for TFA. The most of what I saw was the Black Series figures, the regular figures and Funko Pops. I got a few. I needed Lukes and Reys.

Who is John Campea and why should I even care about this pathetic manchild crusade to get girls out of Star Wars?
I've been a huge SW fan since I saw the very first movie 13 times at the cinema when it came out. I have the film's on VHS, DVD, Bluray, tshirts, loads of novels, the works.

I've never heard of John Campea.

Edit : from an 'old' fans perspective, Force Awakens was s**t but Last Jedi and Rogue One were pretty good. Solo was enjoyable if not fantastic. Seems a pretty normal rate of success for Star Wars films overall.

I know next to nothing about the guy, but his video about the toxicity within the SW fandom from about a week ago was on point.

Well that's super cynical and/or lacking self-awareness, considering youtube personalities like him are in no small part responsible for breeding that toxic culture, their whole shtick is making controversies out of nothing just to have shit to talk about every day before the movies come out and driving clicks...

No idea who he is, but I’ve heard of Collider. They’re just another Channel Awesome/Cinemasins/Screenjunkies/etc. Big fish, teensy pond. Usually identifiable by coincidentally having toys absolutely fill the camera frame, in order to establish ‘geek cred.’

Remember when grown men used to band up and partake in the innocent joy of personally attacking a 9-year-old for ‘ruining Darth Vader?’

Truly, our fandom has such a pure history. Don’t know where all the shitheels suddenly sprung from.

But it is amusing that many of the top movie industry commentary YT channels..

Imma stop you right there and ask a question you’ll never likely answer: Why do you put so much stock in YouTube commentators? You realize anyone with a camera and a computer can have a YouTube channel, right? I don’t care about the number of subscribers but that the majority of the people here don’t know who it is you constantly speak of may say something. Not everyone in the world watches YouTube commentary videos. In fact, I’d stand to gather it’s a pretty small part of the population who do. So, yeah, maybe the negativity about Kathleen Kennedy is spreading... in a very small corner of the world. I don’t mean to dismiss your complaint. But I’m just trying to help you gain perspective.

Also why couldn’t this go in your other doom and gloom thread? This is redundant.

Editing to add some perspective to this and other YouTube videos, Kane has posted as being spreading of this KK must go narrative...

I’ve gotta say, those numbers are pretty small. And the one that actually is almost kinda impressive...

You know, approximately, how many tickets The Last Jedi sold? Oh, what the hell... I’ll show you.

67.6 million tickets sold in the U.S. I’ll tell you, if these 1.4 million subscribers to Jeremey Jahns (not all of whom may actually agree with him on TLJ backlash) bought all of the tickets, they’d each be buying about 48 tickets each. If they all hated TLJ as much as you did, they’d be pretty hypocritical. Obviously there are more people out there than you think that have opinions on Star Wars. And sure, maybe some of them didn’t like TLJ, but not enough to go post about it on a forum or watch a YouTube video.

One last point about YouTube channels... YouTube is a niche market. Even the official Star Wars channel only has a small number of subscribers...

Again, I’m not trying to dismiss your argument, but maybe it’s time to see that it’s not shared by as many people as you think.

Kathleen ain't going anywhere. Most people don't care what these youtubers say - except some hard core fans. One thing with the Star Wars fandom (and this is coming from someone who doesn't post much about this franchise and has many friends that are Star Wars cosplayers). They are quite happy with what is happening at the moment.

I very much have enjoyed the last Star Wars movies so they are doing something right. I wish the Star Trek franchise could do something as good.

About that current state of Star Wars fandom...

Could you make that screenshot any larger?

Also, what's your point? That LFL is wishing KK a happy birthday? Or that there are people out there like the guy who commented who don't like KK? Big deal! We know that. (BTW, as I look at this on Facebook, there are 2.4k reactions, there are only 489 "angry" reactions. That says something.)

Looks alright on my phone.

That the Star Wars fandom has reached the point of a complete lack of taste.
Sadly, I think that, as alluded to above, the picking on a 9 year old kid for "ruining Darth Vader" has demonstrated this in the past.

We never had taste, we just have a bunch of grown men whining about how a woman is running Lucasfilm now. I don't get why anyone gets upset, did they forget the prequels? Do they want that shit again?

Five reasons?

1. Star Wars fans take this shit wayyyy too seriously.
2. Star Wars fans take this shit wayyyy too seriously.
3. Star Wars fans take this shit wayyyy too seriously.

Simpler language? It isn't her, it is a small, loud group of people with nothing better to do.

Ironic, considering the sheer volume of "fanservice" was thrown into "Rogue One" and "Solo". Aiming apparently at fans everyone says Kennedy, Johnson, and Abrams allegedly hate because they're telling us how the past must die and the old characters are now dumbos, etc, etc, etc.

(TFA may be the lamest of all lame retreads but its goal wasn't fanservice but to bring in new fans and taking the "safe route". )

Bringing back Darthie Maul with zero explanation in-movie as to how he survived means a future movie will explain it or the movie is sloppily written, suggesting the writer needed to take it more seriously. But people with nothing to do make things for people to watch and then blame them for doing nothing?

Yeahg, they forgot the prequels. Which were bad for different reasons.

Question: If the showrunner was male and the same scripts between 2015 and now came out, then will people agree that it's not the body parts that make the difference but the fact the scripts have issues even bigger than the original trilogies???? Or are the SJWs and ironic-opposite-of-SJWs-who-are-no-different whining about the same superficial nonsense? And who is drumming up the gender issue to begin with? If I look that up it's not the crybabies in amateurish youtube videos, then can we can the ****?

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Kathleen Kennedy, she's been a driving force behind a great many of my favorite movies growing up. And though I can't easily defend that she's not completely out of her element here, my only real complaint would be her ceaseless devotion to Riann Johnson, the true destroyer of Star Wars. If she won't get rid of him, I can't in good conscience support not getting rid of her.

As far as the Prequels go, we'll be lucky if we ever see shit like that again.

This is still one of the most overblown and completely ridiculous things I've seen you say.
