Movies You Wish Had Gotten Sequels, That Never Did

There's a movie I wish had gotten a REMAKE but never did:

Logan's Run.

One of these days . . ..

Seriously, they've been talking about a remake for decades now, but I imagine it will happen eventually.

The PLANET OF THE APES and I AM LEGEND remakes were also mired in Development Hell for what seemed like forever. (Remember when Oliver Stone was going to remake POTA? Or when Ridley Scott was going to direct Shwarzenegger in I AM LEGEND?) But they finally happened . . ..

I'm also still waiting on remakes of FANTASTIC VOYAGE, DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS, and THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN. (The latter was in development for years at Universal, before the rights finally reverted to the author.)

I just rewatched Repo: The Genetic Opera for the first time in ages, and I really wish they had gotten to make the prequel covering the night Marni died.
At least we did get the Devil's Carnival movies to make up for it.

Haven't there been two different Triffid series/miniseries over the last 10 years or so?

On British television, I gather. We haven't had a feature film since 1950s.

And it strikes me that novel would lend itself to a big new movie, preferably without the dopey ending the movie added.

There have been plenty mentioned that I agree with: Serenity (naturally), Event Horizon, Salt, The Fifth Element, Stargate (original cast).

Some that come to mind - sorry if already mentioned. Most will be action movies I expected sequels to follow:

- The Italian Job (not the greatest, but all of those stars seemed primed for another big heist movie)
- Constantine (surely Keanu would have done another)
- True Lies ( I read this was in the works before Arnold became the Governator)
- The Punisher (Another Tom Jane one would have been nice - not the crap that followed)
- The Rundown (for whatever reason The Rock + Sean William Scott was pretty funny)
- Swordfish (Another decent action / heist flick I enjoyed)
- Unbreakable ( although I did hear there could be a Split 2 tie-in with Bruce Willis interested)
- Zombieland
- Bandits (Bruce Willis + Billy Bob Thorton + Cate Blanchett made this pretty great)

I'm sure more will come to me.

Green Lantern. Simply to see Mark Strong play Sinestro in the villain role. I was also curious to see how that would expand out to the rest of the DC universe.

Good news. Those are coming. In fact, the Unbreakable/Split crossover, GLASS, is filming now and is scheduled for release on January 18, 2019. And, yes, Bruce Willis is in the movie.

Zombieland Too is also aiming for 2019.

Since all my choices have already been mentioned, I'll offer up this ...
I want a sequel to this thread.
"Movies that got sequels that you wish hadn't."
That might be fun

I would like another Tintin film, the first was flawed but good and a lot of the other comics were better.

"Split" was "Unbreakable 2".

Shyamalan said the bad guy was originally in the original drafts of the "Unbreakable" script. As one website notes:
The director revealed during the press rounds for “Split” that James McAvoy’s character, Kevin Wendell Crumb, was actually written into the original “Unbreakable” script. Shyamalan decided to cut Crumb and his alter ego, The Beast, from the movie because he felt the character’s inclusion made the plot just a little too jam-packed. He ended up expanding the original scenes he wrote for “Unbreakable” and filling out Crumb’s backstory to create the “Split” screenplay. Now the two characters will finally come face to face as originally intended in “Glass.”

Most of this has been said probably:

Logan's Run
Mad Max Fury Road
2010 ( I would loved to have seen the other Clarke novels in this series adapted to the screen)

This is another one I wouldn't mind, and for a while I was hoping it still might happen, but Steven Spielberg seem to just keep adding more and more movies to his schedule with no mention of Tintin 2.

I thought Peter Jackson was supposed to do the sequel. Although I'd prefer Spielberg. With Jackson I imagine it would be a 9-hour trilogy.
