Mostly Hannibal, that ended *really* open-ended and the relationship between him and Clarice far from resolved.

Especially given how many sequels Disney has done, one to The Black Cauldron could have been pretty fun (based on another of the books or with an original plot).

Do NOT under any circumstances attempt to google for Stallone’s explanation. Trust me, you don’t want to hear it.

Oddly enough, the three movies I checked out of the library to watch this Memorial Day weekend were all based off novels that had sequels written for them
'When Worlds Collide' had 'After Worlds Collide'; and the movie set up a sequel by showing an alien city off in the distance before the credits rolled.
'Colossus' which the movie 'Colossus: The Forbin Project' was based on, had two sequel novels, 'The Fall of Colossus' and 'Colossus and the Crab'; the less said about the later the better.
Finally 'Doc Savage: Man of Bonze' based off the pulp novels by Letter Dent.
The producers even went so far as to put a title card up at the end of the movie saying "Doc Savage will return in 'Doc Savage vs the Arch Enemy of Evil'".
That shows you how much confidence the producers had that the movie would be a success.
Well we all know how that turned out.

Speed Zone 2 AKA Cannonball Run 4. I just love it when cars are fast and loud and acting

Hopefully I'll get to see 10 Fast 10 Fur10us before my inevitable untimely death in a drag race.

As I recall, George Pal bought the rights to all 181 of the original DOC SAVAGE novels. Oops.

Then again, that seems like a mistake in retrospect, but suppose MAN OF BRONZE had been a monster hit and some of the other novels were still up for grabs? It would have been CASINO ROYALE all over again.

Just rewatched Warcraft - it still has all the same problems and I understand exactly why its struggling to get a sequel. But in all honesty, I want one anyway. Garona's story especially deserves a strong continuation, the setup between her and Lothar is so promising and I'd really like to see what becomes of Durotan's people and especially his son.

In the lap of squalor I assure you.
The cast of Young Sherlock Holmes would probably look the part now.

Luc Besson should make a sequel to The Professional (AKA Leon) called Matilda, & Natalie Portman should be a badass assassin.

He should also do another Unleashed (AKA Danny The Dog) before Jet Li is too old.
Edit: Shit... Bob Hoskins is dead now though isn't he? :weep:

Speaking of Luc Besson, wasn't there at one point supposed to be a sequel to The Fifth Element called Mr. Shadow?

I just saw an add for another one that I would have liked to see more of, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Apparently there was plans for that & one for a Leon sequel too, actually titled Mathilda, which at some point got reworked into Zoe Saldana's Columbiana, which I haven't seen. It seems Mr. Besson has a strange relationship with actually making sequels, unfortunately, even though he plans to lol. It's a shame. I'd watch sequels to a number of his movies, but of course, the only ones we get are Taken & the Transporter

Agreed. It ended with a good set up for more. It's cheesy fun that takes itself just serious enough to not be satire. If a sequel stayed in the same tone I'd be up for more. I don't think Gemma Arterton would come back. If I recall she had some negative experiences in Hollywood(I think of the Weinsten variety but am not certain) and hasn't done Tinseltown work in some years.

I own it on Blu Ray and watch it about once a year.

    Just kidding.
Never Say Never Again - The film was a hit and Connery was up for it but the rights situation with McCrory vs Eon nixed any non-Thunderball Bond stories. I rather liked middle-aged Bond and could would have liked another film or two.
Krull- Love the original and taking Colwyn and crew off-world in a sequel would have been kinda cool. But only if Horner did the score again. Krull was one of his best.
Superman Returns- Deserved a sequel. I realize it mostly appeals to us old timers who are in love with the Donner films. Still, was vastly superior to Man of Steel (IMHO).
Close Encounters of the Third Kind- Should get a sequel today, 40 years later. With CGI, Neary (played by Dreyfus) would look the same as when he left. He'd have to contend with the fact that he abandoned his family. But, maybe it was worth it? What does he have to tell us?
Tron Legacy- The leaked ideas for the sequel sounded really cool. Films that performed worse have gotten sequels.
Faraway, So Close!- Wim Wenders should have made a trilogy of angel films. The third could have followed Nastassja Kinski's Raphaella as she gets the human experience. Peter Falk would return, of course. Many consider the two angel films and Until the End of the World a trilogy as several actors and characters coexist in all 3 films.

Godfather III = Fourth movie was suppose to take place in the twenties and center around Sonny Corleone. Leonardo Dicaprio was going to star. Not sure why this project never happened, perhaps the death of Puzo?

Superman Returns = I enjoyed the movie myself and thought for sure another one was coming. Didn't realize how much the financial burden of the previous failed attempts in the franchise was going to play into the perceived success of the movie.

Spiderman 3 = Studio interference turned what could have been a really good movie into a mess. The entire Venom storyline should have been saved for Spiderman 4.

I'm hoping Solo doesn't end up on this list.

It was written, as I recall. And the late composer Robert O. Ragland created some original demos for it.
