Yep they were, and some still feel that wayYou do know people were saying that in 1987, right?

TWOK definitely is not.You do know people were saying that in 1987, right?
I am sad that Nemesis ended the TNG movie franchise, but I'm glad that movie never got made. It just sounds so incredibly contrived and unimaginative. The Trek universe should be big enough that people don't just happen to run into each other like that. That was the plan in 2002. A "Justice League of Trek" is what Brent Spiner called it. Then Nemesis tanked.
Unless I’ve confused it with the microwave again, Discovery most certainly is on TV. It’s on a subscription streaming service, but what isn’t these days. Everything comes down the phone line now, but It’s no different to having a satellite subscription to watch Enterprise back in the day.
Yes, but there is a difference. You do know people were saying that in 1987, right?
Surely that's subjective. And with a forth Kelvin movie on the way and second season of Disco, I'd say they must be popular enough.Yes, but there is a difference.
Back in 1987 they managed to come up with something new and interesting. They managed to use TOS as a launch pad to new exciting adventures not so far in the future from TOS but still keep what was essential from TOS and adapt it into new stories with new interesting characters and new adventures in an expanded universe.
What we have had in recent years are just tired, messed-upp attempts to re-create TOS without everything which made TOS interesting and without everything which made TNG, DS9 and Voyager interesting.
It may be regional. The box office totals for the last three movies in the US went down. In 09 they made $257m, in 13 they made $228m and in 16 they made $158mSurely that's subjective. And with a forth Kelvin movie on the way and second season of Disco, I'd say they must be popular enough.
That's not that unusual, though. It may be regional. The box office totals for the last three movies in the US went down. In 09 they made $257m, in 13 they made $228m and in 16 they made $158m
Yes, and that makes a difference in my opinion.Yes its on a paid only service, not on network tv
It does for me as well. I won't pay for it. The only reason I've seen the show is that my boyfriend's father has itYes, and that makes a difference in my opinion.

Because this is the ONLY way to watch. You can only watch discovery if you join CBS all accessStar Trek has been on Subscription telly since there has been subscription telly to subscribe to. How is this different?

In the US you never had to pay for it. It was just on the basic tv channels. As of now there is no plan for discovery to be released to television. It will remain on cbs all access only.Right now it is, but it will go to the free channels, just like TNG did, and DS9, and VOY and ENT.
When TNG started, the only way to watch it was tofd buy or rent the VHS from Villiage Video.
Maybe it’s different in the US, but here, you had to pay for Sky One if you wanted the latest shows.
Probably since episode one of TAS.You do know people were saying that in 1987, right?
It's the shape of things to come. Marvel got there first with a host of Netflix-exclusive shows and soon Lord of the Rings and Star Wars will have series' on similar subscription services. In the US you never had to pay for it. That's the business model that is being pursued right now, for good or ill.In the US you never had to pay for it. It was just on the basic tv channels. As of now there is no plan for discovery to be released to television. It will remain on cbs all access only.
Many people already have Netflix. Hardly anyone had cbs. It's the shape of things to come. Marvel got there first with a host of Netflix-exclusive shows and soon Lord of the Rings and Star Wars will have series' on similar subscription services.
Not too long ago hardy anyone had Netflix. Soon hardly anyone will have Disney's new streaming platform, and how many people have Amazon Prime to watch Lord of the Rings? Many people already have Netflix. Hardly anyone had cbs.
There are the big three that many people have, Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. They're generally worth the price because of the quantity of shows they have. Cbs is another service you have to get just for only one show. I'm just speaking for myself of courseNot too long ago hardy anyone had Netflix. Soon hardly anyone will have Disney's new streaming platform, and how many people have Amazon Prime to watch Lord of the Rings?
