I didn't bother reading this properly, I'm afraid you're going to have to write another post explaining the same concept to me again. :)

You missed the point entirely.

LIKE I ALREADY SAID

The decision was not made all at once, and the whole situation has been pretty nebulous for 50 years.

I shouldn't have to repeat myself on a message board.
I am aware of that, which does not mean my point is invalid, no need to be rude with your shouting. If you find repeating yourself a burden then stay off message boards

Responding to me but entirely ignoring my point is way ruder.

That's precisely what it means. It never was made clear what exactly the situation was with Starfleet and Earth, and indeed as you pointed out in your own post (lol), different teams have had different interpretations of it. Not to mention the fact that there are practical concerns for a live action production (including the need to reach a wide audience) that novels don't have.

Or perhaps you misread the novels. It's seems a distinct possibility at this point.

If you find repeating yourself a burden then stay off message boards.

If you find reading other people's messages a burden......

By STMP it was very clear, by STWOK it was very clear, by STTFS it was very clear, you want them all listed? The movies had the makeup budget to scatter a few nonhuman faces as extras on the bridge. They managed it with Klingons, the audience had no problem accepting those faces

Yes please.

The movies had the makeup budget to scatter a few nonhuman faces as extras on the bridge.

And yet other things in the budget seemed to take priority over covering the extras in latex. I wonder why?

Yeah, I'm still holding out for that Captain Worf spin-off.

You ever notice how Star Wars is set in a Galaxy far, far away, but it's still basically about humans?

And BSG?

Odd that. And I suspect it has to do with more than just the latex budget.

It would be highly unlikely, given that a slow birthrate in itself would mean evolution in Vulcans would be extremely slow. Not to mention that they would still need to survive the harsh Vulcan planet, and all the other ultraviolent Vulcans trying to kill them.

I'm wondering why we're assuming Vulcanians evolved at all. They're not native to their home planet anyway. Being that it's likely they are actually descendants of Sargon's People. It's also likely they could have been engineered rather than evolved.

You ever notice there are more alien faces in the background in Star Wars than Star Trek?
You mean the Captain Worf spinoff is right up there with the Captain Riker spinoff?

Yeah, and it doesn't change the fact that it's mostly about humans in a Galaxy dominated by humans. :)

I think you know what I meant by that reference, but at this point you're just scraping for anything you can think of in order to frustrate.

"I cannot defeat this Klingon, I can only kill his argument, and that no longer holds my interest".

I'm done.

If Vulcans only had sex every seven years it would not explain how many humans fall in love with them. No human is waiting that long.

It also biologically does not track, why would such a reproductive limitation evolve in any species?
I don't think it limits them. Vulcans live for hundred of years. They would have the ability to produce many many children

My opinion is that Vulcans can and will have sex whenever they want to and the ponn far issue is related to their fertility. When hetero sexual vulcans mate at that time, pregnancy is guaranteed for most females if they don't use contraception.

Spock said that Sargon's story explained a great many things in Vulcan prehistory. Meaning that he at least considered a likely story.

But it's something that will probably never be fully explained so we have to use our imaginations!

I always assume that almost every alien race, Vulcans and Klingons especially, are the result of genetic engineering some hundreds of thousands of years ago, and this is the explanation for their monocultures and lack of technological progress beyond the early warp stage (as well as superhuman strength).

It's just that humans, being exceptional creatures as we are, skipped that stage via crazy wars and laws, and pushed the rest of the nearby cultures forward after the Federation was founded.

Sex is a fantastic thing. The feeling of intimacy and humor between two people just makes life better. It's why some people have multiple lovers; it can make them happier as a person and in the relationship. It is great when you may buy a funny sex toy for your partner, and he or she will not get mad at you.

First, welcome to the board.

Second, please take some time to review the rules for posting here, pinned at the top of this forum.

This thread has been dead over 3 years. Let's let it rest in peace, shall we?

Thanks.
