Voyager fans.. are you disappointed about Discovery?

For my part, I regret several things about Discovery :

- the fact that this new series takes place between TOS & Entreprise (=pre-sequel) and not after Nemisis, the movie or Voyager, the series.
- the darkness of the general storyline/characters, which is present in almost all episodes.
- although we knew right the beginning that violence will be omnipresent, I didn't think that this chapter of Star Trek's saga will be as violent as it was.
-> next to Discovery, Voyager is a walkover on a green lawn surrounded by flowers where some bees and hornets are gathering pollen, with their stings ready to be released to defend themselves! (Oops sorry, it's the spring that makes its effect on me!)
- even if I was never fond of Klingons, those which were submitted, were really hideous (physically) and unpleasant.
-> it is hard to believe that eventually, we will enjoy (even if for my part, I wasn't fond of them, sorry) following the adventures of Worf and later B'Elena Torres.

I agree with all of this. I have read some articles saying the next season will be more of the traditional space exporation. I'm looking forward to that more.

There are descendants of people who committed atrocities on par with what the DiscoKlingons did around today. Would you blame them for what their ancestors did?
Yeah, 76 years ago we were at war with Germany and Japan. Japan attacked America. Treated POWs worse than animals. Germany killed millions in death camps. We dropped atomic bombs on Japan and fire bombed Germany. Now they're two of our very close allies.

Of course not (‎I belong to those who think that we have to learn from the mistakes of the past and not delete the facts or destroy what was built on the pretext that it is improper to the reality that one wants to present. This is foolishness and a denial of the past.
-> my parents taught me to look to the past, to live the present and prepare the future and they were right, even if some mistakes tend to repeat despite our efforts to avoid them.

My problem here is that Klingons are introduced as a violent species, with no qualms and able to devour their ennemies with delight!
-> I don't know for you but the scene where we see a group of Klingons sharing pieces of Philppa Georgiou's body, particularly shocked me.
What a very sad fate for a brilliant Starfleet Captain!

Discovery Klingons are violent and brutal. They seem totally unrelated to what comes next.

Are you a fan of Deep Space Nine's Klingons? Because although never shown like in Discovery, they do speak of cannibalism. Kor, Kang and Koloth explicitly ate the heart of one of their enemies, planned to do the same again (to The Albino) and Worf was worried Jadzia wouldn't get into Klingon heaven because she'd never done so (which implies that Worf has done so, or planned to, as well)

What savages these Klingons! (Proud as Artaban and cannibalists at ‎their spare time!) ;-)

I thought it was more an honor thing, not to make Klingon jerky.

Even though Klingons have referred to doing so before?

I really think the Klingons were poorly presented. They were (excuse my language) sh*t ugly for starters. Saddled with guttural subtitles enough to make the sanest man go mad. Who on the production/writing team thought that was a good idea?

Edit: The next part is possibly a spoiler for some but I think we might be passed that by now...

Eating Georgiou was more than a reference it was a gratuitous one, complete with Kol picking his teeth with her com badge.

They were supposed to be more brutal and unsympathetic. For us not to identify with them at all but they came across as simply one-dimensional monsters.

As I see it, they have totally ruined the Klingons.
That's why I refuse to see those teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lookalikes as Klingons.
