Moffat: The Whole Rotten Saga

Yes, she did. It is literally what she was going to fucking do, and only didn't succeed because the sleep tech doesn't work on The Doctor.
You missed the part where it's revealed that Clara never got to put the "sleep patch" on the Doctor's neck because he grabbed her and put it on her palm instead.

She specifically chose the planet in question and the situation to put The Doctor in a life or death situation, and then just went for a murder/suicide when he refused her demands. She wasn't planning to strand him if he didn't do what she wanted, she was planning to kill him and herself.
Nice headcanon... yeeeeaaah I guess the only step when stranded on the lava planet would be a murder/suicide to avoid starving/dying of thirst, but they don't say it in the episode

Wasn’t the whole thing a dream sequence? Therefore out of her conscious control? Isn’t it just foreshadowing the hybrid?

Yes, she did. It is literally what she was going to fucking do, and only didn't succeed because the sleep tech doesn't work on The Doctor. What happened in her head was what her plan was, and what she would have done if one small part of her plan hadn't failed.

That... simply didn't happen. I mean, I don't know what else to tell you, because that is just not what happened - not on screen, not in the script, not in the character dialogue, not in the character actions... it just didn't.

Clara never once threatened the Doctor's person. She chose that volcano because she knew it's what it took to destroy a Tardis key, not because they would die there. They just spent the whole season getting out of "certain death" situations, and you think either of them would just give up and die because he couldn't get the Tardis door open? You're certainly right that the scenario played out as she planned it to, regardless of whether it was real or imagined. But nowhere in that plan is it even suggested that she wanted to kill either the Doctor or herself. She wanted to control him, yes. Kill him, no.

And really, calling me dishonest because I don't agree with your wild imagination... well that's really quite something.

Martha was actually the most bad-ass of the RTD companions, I think. She was already the most independent and mature in "Smith and Jones" - she had moved out of the family home into her own flat, was putting herself through medical school, all her friends and family came to her with their problems because she knew best. As much as she pined after the Doctor, the lesson she learned was that she didn't need a man. She was forced to work without a net in "42", "Human Nature" and obviously "Last of the Time Lords". And after that she goes on to an independent career - yes she was obviously influenced by the Doctor, she likes him, but she doesn't need him. She can do it herself.

With Donna, I have always noted the fact that while she was supposed to be the main companion for the year, she was constantly overshadowed by the return of one former companion throughout the season, spent three eps with another former companion, spent two episodes with a future companion, and then the whole clusterfuck of former companions at the end. But that IS Donna's character right there - it's showing you her character instead of just telling you. She is the temp. Her whole story is about self-esteem, and being overshadowed by others is the manifestation of that.

.

For me Martha was the one overshadowed, by a character who wasn't even on screen. Meanwhile Donna was never overshadowed by anyone. Heck one of the (many) reasons I love Donna is her reaction to the Doctor surviving at the end of the Sontaran episode. Martha's all limp and "Oh, are you ok Doctor." Donna just punches him. As for Martha's independent career, she did this for a while then presumably quit being UNIT's chief medical officer to be Mickey's Mercenary wife instead.

That whole situation really needs to be explained at some point, even if it's in a novel, comic, audio, whatever.

They team up under the Command of Dorothy Gale as part of an elite unit of humans exposed to Artron Energy and are fighting the Daleks in the Last Great Time War, having been time scooped unknowingly from a future that shouldn’t exist yet. You don’t see the rookie they drag half dead out of there, a teenager called Jack, who came from the allied human colonies....and they report to a shadowed figure known only as The Warrior...

Dun dun duuuunnnnnn

In Tony Lee's comics for IDW, he showed Martha's last mission for UNIT. The story (which involved giant clockwork angels) ended with Martha calling Mickey and telling him she was going to quit and take him up on his offer. To date, I think that's all the justification we've had.

But then there's the whole thing of how did Martha and Mickey even end up married less than a year after they first met.

Why is it unusual for people to get married after a full year of dating?
They've known each other previously and time is all Wibbly Wobbly Timey Whimey anyways; they could have been dating for six years even if it was only one for the Doctor.
And besides, they both work for Unit and Martha has been trained to be a soldier as well as a doctor. If she was needed on a team, why the hell shouldn't they put her on that mission?

Why is it only a year? The doctor does have that time box thing, I doubt he took the bus to say ciao to the chums.

@Butters, my point, though, is that it's not uncommon for people to get married after only a few months of dating, so with a year being the minimum amount of time they could be dating, it seems like it's only sudden to the audience because we haven't seen the two of them for a year.

It’s not just the marriage that made me think more time has elapsed. They appear to be recently wed enough that its novel to them. But their mercenary lifestyle seemed well established. It’s hard to tell what the intent was, but I always felt that this was a few years on, maybe five.

It's very common.

Everybody forgets Martha was engaged to someone else when she met Mickey. She may even have gone through with it, depending on how willing you are to retcon the mention of her being on her honeymoon in "Children of Earth" from the intent to what we ended up seeing.

I just did some digging, and apparently The Stolen Earth/Journey's End is supposed to take place in June 2009, though I'm not sure the source on that. Regardless, for the sake of discussion, we'll stick with that date, and Journey's End would be the first time the two ever meet each other, and as pointed out, at the time Martha is engaged to Tom Milligan from the S3 finale. Children of Earth takes place in September 2009 according to the date stamped on various computer screens, and Martha is said to be on her honeymoon. So, in the span of three months, Martha met Mickey, broke up with Milligan, and married Mickey. About the only thing I can figure they have in common is they're both resentful of Rose Tyler. Now, I'm hardly an expert in these matters, but I'm pretty sure resenting the same person is not sufficient grounds for two people to get married.

Who says the Mickey and Martha we see the Doc visiting isn't some future ver traveled to 2009 to track a rogue Sontaran from the Stratagem? I too would have loved a more fleshed out series of Martha and Mickey kickin ass across space time as rogue time agency Operatives. Vortex Manipulators and powerful Guns, given how Mickey became so cool in the end, and tech savvy I can see him getting his hands on one of the VM's left behind by Jack Harkness, or River and off world adventures too. I would love to see a M & M Team Spin off.. or Audio Drama, or Comic..
