A Roseanne revival? Really??

I really enjoyed this episode. Lots of great laughs and some good moments for both Jackie and Becky, as well as some wonderful sister bonding between Becky and Darlene. John Goodman continues to kill it in every scene he's in, of course.

A rather sad episode, but I suppose they left it a little open down the road. I’m amazed there was no rocket scientist jokes.
Surprised the mother is still around. Could explain why Jackie is still single.

I wouldn't say it was all that sad, but rather a realistic and mature take on such a situation. I like that Darlene and Mark were able to recognize that the relationship wouldn't be healthy for them to try and continue, especially considering how it would affect their children. I hope we see more growth in regards to that relationship and we see plenty more of Mark.

It’s sad that they couldn’t make their relationship work. At least now, like the previous episode it opens the possibilities for new love for both of the sisters. Especially Becky. All she did in the previous seasons was make mistake after mistake. It would be nice to see her not to.

Side note, I don’t know if the self checking machines in the US are different to the ones here in the UK but you can’t fake a “beep” that easily on them. They have scales that weigh the item after it’s scanned to make sure it’s the correct item.

David.

I enjoyed the sisterly moment between Becky and Darlene. And the episode being more about the family than politics.

This is how you reboot a show. This is probably my favorite episode of any reboot ever. That's how much I loved this episode. It was sweet and loving, a little sad but just because you worked as a teenager or 20-something doesn't mean you are meant to be.

I didn't know the mom was coming back for this episode, love her. I'm a little more surprised that Roseanne and Jackie were not attacking her more, and her mom almost came off as like-able and decent. Estelle Parsons is in better shape at age 90 than my mother at age '49' *wink wink* (She is 62. Shhh.). She is amazing. She better be around for next season too.

Also it's incredibly easy to steal from the self serve line. Sure there is a scale but there is a button that goes 'Brought own bag' that ignores the scale. I've done it by mistake and gotten a free LEGO minifigure. I've done it at Walmart 'by mistake' and got free cat food. I agree with Roseanne. If I'm taking someone else's job then the 3 cans of cat food that I got when your system was screwed up and you are too cheap to hire help is my employee pay.

The final exchange between Darlene and David was soooo bittersweet.

I don’t think Dan had any right to tell David when he could see his own kids.

Nice to see Bev!

I don't want to get into that argument ;), but it's not a reboot. Same characters, same actors, not an alternate universe (that we're aware of). It's a continuation.

Yeah but if you just say "beep" and drop the item right into your cart, the scales and scanners don't know it's there.
(Note to NSA: I do not condone or practice theft of goods in the above-described manner).

No you are completely right, I meant revival. Reboots are H50 and MacGyver. It drives me nuts when websites don't know the difference. However let's not get into what universe this season takes place in.

And no you shouldn't steal, but the rich get richer and the rest of us get fucked. Walmart's owners only have 150 billion dollars, heaven forbid they hire help to actually cashier. Sometimes the scanners aren't working right and there isn't a cashier in sight, then whatever, just leave. In that case I 100% agree with Roseanne, what you took is your payment for being a cashier.

Yeah, I'll buy "revival" for a dollar

Pretty good episode and i like that the new season is not doing jokes just because and they acknolwledge that life isn't always fair and there's always a fairy tale ending after 22 minutes. This could have been a very depressing episode but they handled it quite well.. not everything works out in the end and sometimes you have to make the hard cut in order to be able to move on and they did. You don't get to see that much realism in comedy shows but then again Roseanne never shied away from getting serious from time to time (but still sneaking in a joke or two so they don't slip too far).

It was nice to see Galecki reprising the role of David, he must have taken off for a few days from TBTT (or they were on hiatus) but given his role on Big Bang i don't see him cropping up in Roseanne that much (if Big Bang ends soon however it could be a seamleass transition to Roseanne if he wants it).

They'll get back together. They're just doing a Ross and Rachel.
They're just on a break.

Been binge watching the old episodes. I forgot how terrible their kids are. You also see how messed up Becky is. She starts off as this rather smart kid who just makes one dumb decision after another until we get what we see now. A depressed alcoholic. I really hope they bring some happiness into her character soon.
I also hope they bring back those credit scenes; with the 4th wall jokes and meta humour.

I will bet that she magically becomes pregnant by the end of the season.
