A Roseanne revival? Really??

Yeah, John Goodman makes the show. He's one of the three main characters and without him the show wouldn't have ever come back. He's my favorite character along with Jackie and new Mark.

Well the show was kind of like "Seinfeld" in that your star comedian isn't a great actor but they do their comedy stuff pretty well. You leave the acting stuff up to who you surround around them and for this show it was John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf. The kids are of course a X factor. You never expect great acting from tv kids but they were good enough and Sara Gilbert was even better than average.

This is the last show I expected would come back.

I'm surprised John Goodman and Roseanne are even still alive, to be honest.

I was curious about Jackie saying that "Aunt" is the only title she has left... what about her son? Plus, what happened to The Lunch Box diner?

Maybe his son calls her by her first name as well. I've also wondered about the diner and Martin Mull's character as well. In the end though I think they just wanted to make a joke.:)

Jackie's son will show up next season. Roseanne said that they only had enough time / episodes to show about the core cast, but they want too if they get more episodes. Which they did.

I'm assuming the dinner went under because Roseanne does Uber and Jackie is a life coach.

Now that the show is a hit maybe we will get out of the house more. So far I think that Boy Meets World classroom was the only other set.

Didn't Becky also go to dinner with the not-Becky to talk about hellping her have a baby?

No, they met at the restaurant where Becky worked as a waitress. And just to get this out of the way, it was a different restaurant, not The Lunch Box.

If they don't explain what happened to The Lunch Box I'm going with Roseanne lit the place on fire to try to kill Leon and get the insurance money. Or that Leon bought everyone out and made it into a gay nightclub.

Well, I know she'll never get an Oscar, but my wife and I have been rewatching the series over the last couple of years (we rotate thru our favorite shows on DVD while eating dinner), and I gotta say I'm impressed by Rosanne's acting chops in most situations on the show. YMMV, of course. But we've seen her do some damn good serious scenes.

Maybe it went under because people lost jobs and stopped eating at her diner, which could give two reasons why jobs are important to her.

Looking forward to Andy next year (I think that's Jackie's son)

I enjoyed it. I liked that the whole family just assumed Darlene is gay when she says she isn’t.
What Roseanne did to Harris was also funny.

That’s what I was thinking too. Or they might have sold it or that Lanford’s mainstreet businesses might have went under when they built/expanded Wal-Mart and some other big business chains moved in along with it.

Andy might be living with Fred.

Being that Andy was 2-3 when the show ended, he would be almost 25 by now. Even Roseanne and Dan's fourth child, second son, they mentioned was on a boat or something.

Roseanne's acting now is awful, she is the weakest on the rival. I also read that the first 9 seasons of the show was never even nominated for best comedy! That to me is amazing. A top 5 show for half it's run and never even nominated. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) The Middle is the same, 100 times funnier than Modern Family at it's best and never was nominated at all for anything.

About the conservatism thing. Nobody ever complained about King of the Hill, but if King of the Hill came out today they'd have to make Hank a Trump supporter. It'd be interesting how the reactions would be different. And if Hillary Clinton was president, Roseanne could come back as a conservative show and nobody would bat an eyelash. It's interesting how perspective has changed now that mainstream conservatism has gone so far beyond the pale with supporting white supremacy again.

YEEESSSSSSS!!!!

I'm sick of people thinking politics aren't part of TV, they are and have been and will continue to be. It's like when people complained that WiIll and Grace became political last year... No it became politcal 20 years ago, and Roseanne was political 30 years ago. People are just fucking stupider and more annoying.

*Goes and has grabs his margarita and badly rolled joint.*
Don't forget All In The Family, a show centered around a bigoted patriarch and his hippy son in law. Politics was brought up constantly.

It's got to be the internet,Twitter/social media, and the nature of internet "journalism." I'm not old enough for when All in the Family was first aired, and I was small when Roseanne first came around. But unless I'm wrong, the only way people could voice their displeasure back then was letters to the editor in newspapers, right? Or newspaper columns. And even I know that all of Norman Lear's shows were political and topical, even though I wasn't born yet.

Today, anyone can broadcast whatever brainfart they have via Twitter, and it gets picked up and shared like wildfire. Internet blogs and "magazines" collect this, base their stories on these tweets, and that forms the basis of "the mood of the people." So if someone doesn't like a joke on Roseanne, they can whine about it on Twitter and within hours it's viral and part of an article, which is then used to manufacture controversy.

Roseanne doesn't interest me. Will and Grace doesn't interest me. Black-ish doesn't interest me. But they can tell whatever stories they want. And they can also make whatever jokes they want to make. That's the nature of comedy. I'm not going to get offended.

The people that also got upset over the joke on Roseanne about Black-ish and Fresh Off The Boat need to get a thicker skin. It's comedy. Get over it, or fire back. Isn't one of the first skills of being a comic learning to deal with hecklers in stride? That writer for Bob's Burgers that got his knickers in a twist over one lame punchline seriously made me roll my eyes. Instead of whining on Twitter, make a joke about Roseanne on the next episode of Bob's Burgers you write, bozo.

Saw the third episode last night. LOVED the way Roseanne got her grandaughter out of that shower. :guffaw:

Well.... two out of three ain't bad.

It wasn't reported enough but Black-ish actually had an episode pulled about NFL players taking a knee. Which I find odd.
