Anybody who says they are not going to watch before of his comments were never going to watch to begin with.

This. The show's view is that Burnham had to learn the lesson that Star Trek has taught since The Corbomite Manoeuvre, that it's not as simple as 'they're my enemy'. Now, it's certainly a common fan view that Burnham was correct in TVH, but the show clearly presents her as being morally wrong (even if tactically correct).

She really had a problem with those whales didn't she? Spock had to tell her some colorful metaphors. ;)

My comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

I would actually prefer Young Spock teach her something, if only because Spock is one of my favourite characters ever and Burnham is some upstart they've squished into the Sarek family and given all these important events, like starting and ending the Klingon war and making secret first contact with the mirror universe.

But being a low level technician who interacts with the main group of officers and routinely gets to voice her opinion to admiral sand is listen to, is.
No, we saw plenty of women on the ship who weren't saving the day .... constantly.
Hardly, Bond is a tool, a minion, a "beautiful killing machine." He's seen as useful, but also disposable.

One attribute of a Mary Sue is that people come to like her, she becomes apart of the "in group." With very few exceptions people who come to know Bond don't like him, but he admittedly isn't a likeable person..

Derek Flint on the other hand is absolutely (and deliberately) a Mary Sue.

The fact Burnham is exonerated and was always going to be written as such, screams Mary Sue.

Once on a trip to Federation Headquarters in Paris I saw an officer give a speech...

No it doesn't, unless Kirk is also one, as he was exonerated from stealing a starship for heroism.

Kirk's status has nothing to do with what Michael is.

That was always one of the scenes I found pretty corny. Hey Kirk you broke all these regulations and for punishment we are going to make you a captain again. lol. Now we all knew before the movie even aired that somehow he'd be a capatain again by the end of the movie but it was still very contrived.

A Mary Sue? How is Kirk's frequently superheroic career all that different?

Obviously. Kirk is a male character and Burnham is a female character. All the difference you need. :p

I think @Greg Cox mentioned Batman? talk about the ultimate Gary Stu...and I LOVE Batman.

Kirk is as much a Mary Sue as Michael

Calling out Kirk or Red Shirt extra number three does not remove any of Michaels's Mary Sue qualities.

Do you think Kirk is a Mary Sue for having the same (indeed more impressive) qualities?
Going to be a lot of Mary Sues out there by the definition applied here.

Kirk and Spock are both "Mary Sue's", no doubt about it. What bothers me is that they aren't giving Burnham her own achievements, they are just giving her Spock's achievements.
