The theme song is okay but it’s not as catchy as the ‘98 one. It’s also that they show the Enterprise shuttle in the opening credits when it wasn’t a real shuttle. Just something that was made to test the gliding aspects of it. Only in the Star Trek Universe was it a real one.

I'd consider that one of the easter eggs. Maybe a nod to Star Trek.

I really do feel like the Jupiter ships have a slight resemblence to the USS Defiant. Only instead of a deflector in the front it's the cockpit, but the shape is there kind of.

I’m on episode 6 now and the humans don’t seem to be asking why the robot attacked. Perhaps the humans were in the wrong and they were in his territory or something.

I won't spoilt it for you...... BUT YOU ARE VERY CLOSE .... The final two episodes make an obvious twist and I won't spoil it but I am glad they did what they did.

Love it so far. I watched the first two eps. Like it much more than Discovery. Liked the Bill Mumy cameo. Assuming they let him play the real Doctor Smith as a tribute to his friend Johnathan Harris.

Got to watch the first episode last night. It wasn't bad, but didn't exactly wow me beyond the production values. Which put Discovery to shame.

There are a ton of easter eggs and nods to the original series and the 1998 movie even.

But it did bug me by the end of episode 7 no one seems to communicate, especially with important stuff that could lead to death.

Oh and I found a nice easter egg with the costumes. Mission patches that they were. Take a look and see if you spot a familiar friend from the old show.

I agree with the pace it IS quite slow at this point.......although I am enjoying it for the most part. Hope the slow pace/edit does speed up a but now that we are out of the glacier..........

Those two barely scratch the surface of where they go in the series if you ask me. And in a very real way the whole ten episodes set the stage for the rest of the series.

The shitty part of Netflix dropping all the episodes at once is you never know when to take the gloves off with spoilers. For now, I will say I enjoyed the series quite a bit and I think it is actually a show that the "whole family can watch" while still being solid enough to engage adults. I liked the use of science and ideas to address situations instead of just pure brawn.

Saw this first two episodes last night. Very good so far. And my whole family watched it last night. I thought my 5 year old would be scared of some aspects of the show but it did not seem to. When Doctor Smith showed up he kept asking. "Is she a bad girl?" It kept both my kids 5 and 8 year old glued to the TV which is usual for them. Normally you cant keep them still!

Weirdly, on Earth it's essentially today, but on Jupiter 2 they have loads of futuristic tech like the magic knee brace (perhaps the same one Bruce Wayne had in The Dark Knight Rises!)

I very much like what I've seen so far in the first four episodes that I've watched. Production values better than Discovery with 90 million dollars for ten episodes or average of 9 million per episode vice the 7.5-8.0 million average for Discovery which had fifteen episodes. Of course, pilot episode budgets would be higher for both shows as pilots have series' designs, set construction, model creation in CGI and other one time startup expenses so the average per episode costs are lower to less than 9 million for LIS and 7.5-8.0million for ST: D.
Maybe LIS had the advantage in it's models, such as the huge detailed Resolute mothership and CGI planet backgrounds combined with extensive location shooting in Canada. By contrast ST: D and the TOS ST and TOS LIS were distinctly studio bound as their productions in the 60's had much lower budgets, even compared to some contemporary shows while Discovery didn't spend as much on locations and CGI was less impressive.

More sensible science background in new Lost but there were a number of goofs that a little more research could have avoided. ST TOS did do some science research compared to outright silliness on LIS TOS to make the stories believable and make sense to the viewer.
LIS TOS degenerated below camp into silliness though Dr. Smith was very funny but it also became the Dr. Smith/Will/The Robot show and the rest of the cast were reduced to extras with walk on lines.

Wow, really? There's been more inflation over the past couple of decades than I thought. TNG, DS9, and VGR were able to do really high-quality productions for their day with only about $1.5 to 2 million per episode.

By the way, the standard abbreviation for Discovery is DSC, so if you use that, you don't have to put a space in "ST: D" in order to avoid getting a smiley.

I must say, it is really nice to watch a Sci-fi show with my daughter without having to worry about someone being raped or disemboweled in every episode.

With LiS, Timeless, and Doctor Who... I now have three sci-fi shows to watch with the family!
