Agents of SHIELD season 5

That final scene was actually a deleted scene from season one: https://twitter.com/MarkKolpack/status/982526924235800577
Ahhh...that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the tip. I wasn't expecting more Raina or Quinn after that scene anyways and it was a little surprising to see both actors back for just one scene.

I wonder why didn't use that scene for the stinger of episode 22. Hell, I barely remember anything from season besides the broadstrokes.

One of the two stingers that they actually used instead to end S1 set up the Cal/ Mr. Hyde/ Daisy's dad character for season 2. We saw Raina approach Cal (in shadows before Kyle MacLachlan was cast) and tell him that she had found his daughter. The other one set up Coulson and his obsession with the alien writing.

Thanks for the refresher. I do recall those scenes now (for some reason I didn't realize episode 22 was the finale) and it makes sense that this scene was held back. Clearly I need to rewatch the show and see how everything fits together.

Clearly the producers didn't plan this far ahead for this particular scene and became a convenient moment to pull it out of the archive, but I wonder if they had a general idea of what they were planning to do with gravitonium.

I wanted to believe that all four beakers had water...but nooo...Jemma really has gone just as loopy as Leo and Yo-Yo.

It's interesting that Fitz thinks they're stuck in a time loop, but doesn't believe that makes them safe (or at least, believe it in his gut), but Simmons does believe they can change the future but is also repeatedly betting her life on the fact that it's impossible.

This arc is really making me wish I'd gotten around to doing a second watch-through of the series, the way they're bringing in so many old elements I'd forgotten.

So since when did Raina become the gravitonium whisperer exactly?
This is just totally my head canon of course, but recall that Raina had a real talent at reading people. Look how easily she played poor "Scorch" for a fool by knowing exactly what he wanted to hear before he even knew he wanted to hear it. She knew how to read, play, and manipulate people like a maestro. So, my theory is that Raina could tell by the Gravitonium's "body language" that there was a consciousness in there that grew agitated whenever Ian Quinn was nearby.

I third that nomination!!!
I've been thinking for years that Shield was safe until ABC had something to replace it with.

If they still don't have a replacement Marvel show lined up for the parent network, then AOS will continue.

And even though this season hasn't been quite as thrilling as the 4th season, I certainly hope it continues. (Though that Fitz/Doctor episode went a long way towards elevating this season higher up the charts.)

Of course, they'll break the loop. Other movies and series are dependent upon that happening. It's just a matter of who's going to pay how large a price for that to happen...

Coulson and Talbot are always fun together.
I have to admit, I actually was wondering if they were going to actually kill Simmons during her experiment.
So Coulson has died twice now.

I’m going to have to watch season one again as I have no idea who that bloke was in the flashback was. Nice to see Negga again.

No but they are setting it up so it can be the final season.
I don’t know why no one is watching. It’s currently the best of the superhero shows out there and the Marvel brand is popular.
I feel it needs more ties into the movies to get more attention.

That's the bloke who was the closest thing season 1 had to a recurring villain. He was the tech savvy billionaire behind or at least involved in pretty much every nefarious scheme the team encountered. Later revealed to be taking orders from "The Clairvoyant", so basically an unknowing pawn of Hydra. He also shot Daisy in the gut.

I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing Franklin Hall again,

...I wasn't expecting more... Quinn after that scene anyways

Actually, after re-watching the episode, I think that we may see both of them. After realizing that the gravitonium was "alive", Creel kept mentioning things like the fact that "they" couldn't agree on anything (just like old friends turned foes, Hall and Quinn), and the only thing that "they" seemed to agree on was that they didn't like Coulson.

I think if they were able to get the actors, we might've actually seen them, rather than just stock footage. Hall, at least, since it wouldn't have spoiled the surprise to have new footage of him ranting at Creel.

Yes, exactly. Of course the episode was written to imply that Hall is still in there, but the fact that they could only show him through stock footage suggests that the actor remains unavailable. From Ian Hart's IMDb bio, it looks like he's been kept busy for the past few years as a regular cast member in a couple of British TV series filmed in continental Europe. So they probably have to find a way to use the character without using the actor (much like Mari/Vixen on Legends of Tomorrow). Having him be just a disembodied presence inside the gravitonium is a way to do that.

There just aren't words for how dramatically unsatisfying that would be on so many levels. It would be better to drop the plotline entirely.
