Spoilers Bonus scene from Season One Finale

Well, at least it wasn't the Borg, in terms of raiding the late-franchise bin of worn-out concepts ...
Instead they are just adding to it. After Season 1, I am this close to throwing MU into same mix as Borg and the Q. And now they are going to do it with Section 31. Meh.

There is nothing in that link or any other news story I have read that says he is a series regular. I seriously doubt if they make him a regular character. I think he is going to be a recurring character like Georgiou, Sarek or Mudd.
Sorry, wrong term!

Section 31 is behind the sabotage and they were trying to implicate Spock as a way of curtailing growing Vulcan representation within Starfleet.

(1) This would be a terrible abuse of Section 31, which is emphatically not a Terra Prime / Cerberus-style organization dedicated to subverting Federation ideals but a deranged conspiracy dedicated to advancing them by violating them. Not every bad guy is a racist. There are other evils in the world.

(2) It is a bad enough idea that you've convinced me it is indeed the plot of the Season 2 opener. You're right.

The confirmed at wonder con that he will be in the next season with the same actor

Hell there is a thread below this one about that

Well done, guys. Let's make it an epic thread full of arguments and thinly-veiled trolling fueled by Nerdrage. :)

I wonder how they're going to treat their Section 31? Will it be DS9-style all in the shadows and manipulation, or ID-style limitless funding branch of Starfleet, with superships and the like?

And if they have ships, how will they differentiate them from normal Starfleet ships since they're all black too??

ENT-style would be better. Lurking in the shadows and only appearing in person when the assignment dictates than an operative be somewhere in the flesh to communicate with somebody. Harris was always seen on a viewscreen or a desktop viewer except for the one physical meeting he had with Malcolm at night in San Francisco.

I'm hoping the former, but expecting the latter.

By fucking with the registry numbers, if you believe some people here ;)

I guess it all depends on whether DSC is in the Kelvin universe and if Khan's super-brain conceived the super-ships in DSC's universe.

Well, fuck.

I really didn't want this. I'd rather seen the return of Threshold warp salamanders than Section 31.

I haven't had much to say about this bonus scene, because I was fairly indifferent to it. It was fine for what it was. But, upon reflection, I've realized that there are a couple of aspects to it that make me think this show just isn't for me. One, I have no interest in Section 31, little faith that the writers will do something interesting with it and absolutely no desire to see yet more of the dark side of Starfleet. Two, the scene kinda demolishes a silly hope I was holding: That the ridiculously tidy ending to season one signaled that the showrunners wanted to move in another direction. I guess I was clinging to the notion that the first season was a mess because of all the behind-the-scenes stuff, that the writers were stuck with a bunch of concepts they weren't really interested in. But this scene, and all the other promo stuff, seems to suggest that season two will be a direct outgrowth of season one, with more of the same. Considering that's the nature of serialized TV, I shouldn't be surprised. But it's still discouraging.

There is room for both.
