Admittedly, I use VOY out of habit, but VGR does have a nice bit of symmetry with V'Ger.
I use VOY too, but VGR is more consistent with other abbreviations since they usually omit the vowels.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for ENT. But it's not one size fits all and that's okay.I use VOY too, but VGR is more consistent with other abbreviations since they usually omit the vowels.
I tend to use DSC or Disco, but I've been known to throw around the odd STD.

Who thinks about that kind of thing? Seriously. I've always used it for the movies.I wonder why the people that use STD never use the prefix ST for any of the other series...
DSC.
Adding the redundant "ST" to it makes me think of the good old Tracking and Data Relay Satellites - you know, the big things lofted to orbit by shuttle to support constant comms with the shuttle. Together, the TDR sats made the TDR Satellite System, or TDRSS for short. Which was made of the TDRSS satellites, or TDRSSS for short. Which were used in the TDRSSS system...
I mean, I didn't actually spot a publication using "TDRSSSS". But there were a few ones printing "TDRSSS" on their pages, and then putting the word "system" after it. And tons of "TDRSS satellite" references.

Series not movies
It's all the same thing.Series not movies
The comment was specifically in regards to series abbreviations. No one was talking about the movies. People do use ST in movie abbreviations (I do too) but that isn’t the topicIt's all the same thing.
"Decisive decision making" I had at work today *face twitch*That reminds me of the people that keep saying "ATM machine".

I have seen some people use ST combined with the common 3 letter abbreviations
So like ST TNG, ST VOY.
Just not very often

I preferred DIS because it's the simplest way, and follows the Memory Alpha precedent of VOY and ENT (and probably why they use it), and provides consistency in citations.
But, as I've said before, all the irrational seething hatred towards anyone using the STD acronym has gotten to the point that I'd rather use that than anything else. I've made jokes, but I actually really like the show and want it to succeed. But I don't know if it can with the brewing civil war in fandom over some silly three-letter abbreviation.
Season 3 of (ST)D(I)S(CO)'s existence may very well depend on what is decided by this poll.
