Scribble's scribbles

Man, I really have to start venturing outside of my own thread. I feel terrible. This is some great work, Scribble! I'm sorry this is the first time I've popped in!

Wow, thank you, @Donny!

I'd be using Substance right now, but it doesn't work with V-Ray RT, and I need the RT version because I have an ancient PC and need the processing power of my GPU. Damn.

Hmmm...I click on it and I just go to the 360 page. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I thought that was supposed to be the link to my high-resolution 360Panorama. I'm not sure what's going on, but you're right, it just takes me to the main page. I'll investigate.

In other news, this has certainly, most definitely, NOT been my most favoritest month ever. I've been sick and my dad's been in the hospital, and while no one in my family is saying it, I'm not convinced that he's ever coming home again (to my mom's house, or anywhere, in fact).

I haven't done any of the modeling I was hoping to do. I haven't done any of the printing I was hoping to do. I haven't been doing much of anything, really, and things just seem to keep getting worse (for all involved).

I'll get back to these projects as soon as I can.

I'm sorry :( Take care of real life first.

Heres hoping things get better :( *hugs and gives a Tribble from the TAS cus they dont breed so much*

Sorry to hear about your father, @Scribble. Really seems like you've been through a lot these past few months. I hope everything turns out alright in the long run. Hang in there! :)

Thank you all for your concern and well-wishes. I truly appreciate it.

My dad had his surgery for spinal stenosis and to drain the blood in his brain cavity last week and went nearly a week without any sustenance at all, but is now getting nourishment through a tube in his nose directly to his stomach.

His condition is improving and he should be moving tot he step-down unit at the hospital in the next couple of days.

This weekend will be busy with my brother and his wife in town and we'll be moving my dad's office into my mom's office (BIG heavy desk!) from the basement. He can't deal with stairs anymore.

After that, I hope to be able to jump back into modeling (and PRINTING!) with a slight change in my toolbox. I believe I'm moving from 3ds Max to Blender. I've been talking the talk on Facebook, recommending Blender to new modelers, and it's time I start using it, myself! ;)

My FDM printers should be large enough for most of the playsets...er...dioramas I'd like to print, and my resin printer should be perfect for smaller, more detailed parts (like articulated action figures! And rank insignia!). I'm going to concentrate on 1/10-scale, but once I have some experience in printing and more familiar with Blender, I'll be open to requests.

The very first print I'll be doing after calibrating my CR-10 printer is a gift for my dad, the original of which was stolen a couple of years ago. It's fitting as they purchased one of my printers for me for Christmas last year and he still does not understand the process. I have a laser scan of an original that someone on FB was kind enough to provide me. Sorry, it's not Trek-related, but I'll be happy to post images once it's finished if y'all are interested.

One step forward, two steps back...for both me AND my dad. Well, actually, my dad took a huge LEAP forward today and walked for the first time since his surgery!

Me? Haven't been able to clear that space in my basement yet, so no printing. Been too tired and/or busy to model, too.

@Mark_Nguyen I really need to apologize, but your bridge will need to take a couple of steps back, as well. There are a couple of potentially potential earnings projects that I need to work on. I'm hoping to get in with a company that has full rights to Trek products with some of my ideas.

Projects to include: A couple of Action Figures and Playsets as well as [a] monster version of The Refit (I foresee an at least 44.44-inch version to fit with a particular line of models).

I'm hoping to accomplish these in Blender, though I may need to fall back on Max 2012 for some things.

If I can stay awake for a few hours, my basement spot should be cleared. I need to wait for my housemate to wake up so I can make some noise.

I really am very sorry to continue updating this thread with non-art posts, but I really do appreciate people's support. Thank you.

No worries man, thanks for going as far as you did! I look forward to the time you can look at it again. Good to hear your dad's recovering so well!

Good to hear that things are on the up for your dad. And fingers crossed for your earnings projects! We'll still be here for when you have time to work on and show your wish-list/when-time-allows projects :)

Another month goes by and next-to-nothing has been done, but I've at least cleared most of my basement and made a table available for a couple of my printers.

I won't leave you empty-handed, though.

Start of one of my promised projects:

After learning some information about the consoles, I can finally resurrect this long-dead project for me. Well, sort of; I'm completely rebuilding everything about it from the ground, up, and this is the new master section, though I still need to add the details to the platform (rubber flooring, trim, railings, etc...) and the cutouts for the greeblies on the upper section of the walls.

I'm giving NURBS a try, this time. I have my reasons. ;)

I was fighting with a new plugin the last couple of days, but I now believe I know what it wants. I've had to rebuild what I have a few times to get everything to work properly.

I'm working out how it would part out for kits, how it would be assembled as a physical, 1/10-scale diorama.

Both (or all three) versions will be created. If I do work on the TVH version, I'll need someone to work out the controls and displays for the panels and screens. I'm no good at all of that.

Playing around with the Octane Renderer. I think I'm beginning to like it. I need to figure out how to implement Substance materials in it.

Great start! :)

Thanks!

I'm mostly learning the new plugin I'm using and have had to rebuild the walls and ceiling a couple of times to get the hang of it, but it should go pretty quickly once I'm totally used to the new tools.

As a matter of fact, to scale it for the 7-inch figures, I'll need to rebuild them again, but I can do it pretty damn quickly, now. ;)

I also need to work out a couple of details, like how it will all be connected once printed and cast.

Pretty sure I know how I'll tackle the consoles now. They're what caused me to throw up my arms 15 years ago adn give up on this beauty.
