A person doth not underestimate dots lightly. A dot can be a four-dimensional spear yielded by five-dimensional alien demigods, piercing our 3-manifold reality, stabbing it death as our particle matter slowly bleeds out into extra-dimensional space.
They'll have a special TV presentation showing the actual alien. Apparently they've got the cure for like cancer and diabetes and they can grow anything needed on trees. The Alien's name is hard to pronounce, so he prefers to be called "John" instead. You should see his second in command, "Diana" - yowza!!

Unfortunately I think most things people witness these days are next-gen experimental drones. Particularly because it's been said that the number of sightings have exploded in the past decade - correlating almost perfectly with the increase in drone ownership by the general public. Hell, there are some drones that are covered with LEDs and shaped like the Millennium Falcon, specifically designed to look like UFO's, FFS! I would say about 98% of sightings are these.
The other 2% though? Something else entirely, probably legitimate and that cannot be explained at our current tech level.

^ or an old training video, that's what a lot of people are guessing ...
This one is interesting. Although there's no way to tell if the commercial aircraft and the UFO are anywhere near each other (assuming the UFO is a physical craft of some sort and not a weird reflection of light or camera artifact), the video gives the appearance that the UFO lives its life "a quarter mile at a time" and is racing the commercial jet.
Why does the jet plane have the same glow? Never seen that before.
I'm guessing that it's some sort of blooming effect from the CCD on whatever smartphone camera being used.
