It's NX-01 made to look like 24th century ship

In this thread, yesI know that. Sarcasm, a strange concept.
It's funny, I came by these pics couple days ago:

It takes sooo little to go from 22nd century to late 24th century style. Updated nacelles, different dish, different color and presto, 250 years of ship development. So are we all really complaining which ships look too old or too new? Or if design is right for the era or not? It's all very close to each other anyway.
More like 90
You mean the rambling “critique” of the Abrams Trek full of pompous postmodern clichés written by a grad student trying oh so hard to show she’s smarter than everyone else? The one that apparently failed to understand that the Kirk presented in those films had a completely separate life path to the one against whom he’s being compared (thus offering an insightful, yet still entertaining, look into the effect of environment on shaping a person’s personality and behaviour)? The one where the essayist clearly misunderstood that Pine-Kirk is MEANT to act DIFFERENTLY from Shatner-Kirk in order to explore a classic “what if?” scenario for which sci-fi is especially suited? That piece?
Yeah. I read it. She’s still full of shit.
The internet is full of them, its the main reason I keep away from youtube videos on the subject as they mostly consist of sour grapes and oh woe is me.You mean the rambling “critique” of the Abrams Trek full of pompous postmodern clichés written by a grad student trying oh so hard to show she’s smarter than everyone else? The Walker looks newer then everything in the show. You can not really think this looks newer than the walker.
How about this one?Same layout , not the same design style or textures.
The Walker looks newer then everything in the show.
Are you going to tell me that Starfleet went from thick nacelles with bussard collectors, to thin nacelles with no bussard collectors, back to thick nacelles with bussard collectors? (and then back to Thin nacelles in TMP era)
The Walker is the one out of place here.
How about this one?

If John Eaves is not at fault for these designs, who is? DSC producers/executive produces? Or Suits higher up?
And yet that statement implies that you are at least capable of cooking a cheeseburger that is better than McDonalds'.This is an absurd standard. I don't need to be a professional chef to tell that McDonald's cheeseburgers are pretty crappy food.
Why not? Military aircraft went from engines in pods (Me262, Gloster Meteor) to having engines buried in the fuselage (Mig-15, 17, 21, F-86) to having engines with separate intakes (F-104, A-6, F-4, F-105) eventually back to putting engines in pods (A-1o Thunderbolt, B-1B).The Walker looks newer then everything in the show.

And the Walker is probably the oldest one in the fleet, so that shouldn't be surprising either. The Walker is the one out of place here.
That looks great. How about this one?

I was not criticising Eaves. He is obviously very skilled designer. I was criticising the lack of coherent art direction, and that is due some executives who probably are not trained artists or designers. And yet that statement implies that you are at least capable of cooking a cheeseburger that is better than McDonalds'.
Unless, of course, you are comparing McDonalds cheeseburgers to something like, say, Red Robin or Longhorn, but that's a different sort of statement, isn't it? I don't believe, for example, that John Eaves is NEARLY as good a designer as Andrew Probert and I even think Ryan Church's designs for the Kelvin films fit better for what most of us would have expected as standard 23rd century designs. But I don't get to call John Eaves a crappy artist; I could practice for a year and a half and not produce anything comparable to his very worst designs.
What we're basically seeing here is a very odd manifestation of the Dunning-Krueger effect. The skills you need to recognize a "bad" piece of technical art are the skills you would need to design one in the first place. As I have said MANY times now, there is a huge difference between saying "I don't like this thing" and saying "This thing is of poor quality."
And yet that statement implies that you are at least capable of cooking a cheeseburger that is better than McDonalds'.
Everybody's a critic.What. No. It doesn't imply that at all.
All it implies is that he's eaten at least one hamburger that, in his opinion, was better than McDonald's.
The only one it fits with is the Shepard Class. The walker fits with the other 8 we have seen
The only one it fits with is the Shepard Class.
The nacelles don't match any of the other ships.
