Hey, I never noticed that before....

Basically they reused the image of the Kzinti and adjusted it along the way somehow I guess!

[SPECULATION] There was probably copright concern over using the Kzinti in a story that wasn't adapted from a Larry Niven story. [/SPECULATION]

And Spock limped. Rigel VII was a rough outing.

Interesting thing about Spock's limp. Leonard Nimoy actually had a slight limp that he magnified during The Cage for effect.

There are several instances of Spock walking about the ship where Nimoy's limp can be seen. The first that comes to mind is in Balance of Terror, in the scene where he overhears Kirk yelling at the phaser crew to fire while walking down the corridor, and turns to run back to the phaser control room.

I've heard this before on this board (perhaps by you). I will give you that Nimoy had the most awkward, ungraceful running gait of any Trek actor ever, but a real life limp? Care to give a cite for that assertion. Thanks.

I'm talking about his walking gait, not his running gait. All you have to do is watch the scenes that show his feet as he walks normally. Granted, there aren't many, because drama focuses on the upper body to show reaction, but they exist. I cited one, in fact. Not the running part, but the walking toward the camera before it.

In "The Galileo Seven," immediately prior to noticing Spock's "flare," Sulu is just repeatedly toggling a single button on his console. It's all the funnier because earlier in the same camera pan Hadley is more convincingly working the navigation console.

This Side of Paradise....when Spock drops his communicator, he is shown wearing lace up boots like the type Kirk wore in Arena.

Perhaps he's clicking "refresh" on the aft scanner... or his web browser.

I always saw those lace-up boots over the years and assumed they were colonist-issue, to go with the jumpsuit. The thing of interest in that shot was the hotly-desired communicator prop.

But now in HD, if you look closely you can see he was wearing them the whole time:
