Spoilers Some Tyler Questions

But the thing is, nobody really knows what the hell L'Rell did with her creation on that medbed. She waved her hands and chanted words, and suddenly we get a man who speaks like Ash Tyler.
I imagine that's standard procedure for most of the DISCO writers' meetings as well.

Cold. But, yeah, I don't get a sense of coherence from this show. So many things were going to be meaningful and were dropped. Unless they were just kewl things to make a moment. Black badges, water floating during black alert, and that weird antenna living planet come to mind.

I know people say other Trek shows took awhile to get their footing. But I think most people mean "to get good in my opinion." TOS was great out the gate and got a slight bit worse as it got routine. But the Genes knew what it was about.

You might dislike TNG 1-2, but it clearly was something. Most of us think it got better in 3, but there was def. a vision (new crew having adventures with new aliens, occasionally retelling old stories). My wife and I are rewatching DS9. It feels to me like the writers really had a coherent vision (since they were going in a very different direction). Most ppl like that show better in its later years, but it feels coherent at the start.

I am on the pro- side of DSC, but it's not an adventure-of-the-week; it's not a novel about an ambiguous guy trying to do good (b/c he turned out to be a mustache-twirler); it's very rarely about xenophobia, but only occasionally. I thought originally they were gonna sstand things on their head the way the Ferengi do, and make us see the Klingons' point about the Feds. It does seem like they have a show and an hour per week to fill, but not sure what to do with it? I do tune in to find out the answer to "this week's mystery." Maybe that's its vibe. You never know "what's really going on," or "what will happen next." Is DSC the new Lost or Prisioner?

I guess I am off-topic, but this muddled-ness with VoqAsh is probably a symptom of the confusion that seems to have been behind the scenes. I guess we'll get a good documentary or Making-of book someday.

Kinda like Tuvix was Voyager when Neelix and Tuvok were joined together? Him being a hybrid isn't like B'Elanna was half human and half Klingon.

Well.. considering the
DOUBLE URINATION SCENE

Voq is only half a Klingon, either way.

He was noone as a human, he was likely dead with no future in StarFleet and Michael broke with him or he could be Voq the fierce klingon, the torchbearer for L'Rell and a new klingon empire to fullfill TKuvma's prophecy ( because he was already a freak with his albino skin so it doesn't change much as a "human" ).

He showed a lot of fun in playing with the klingons and always looked sad and guilty with the humans so my guess is that he chosed the best for him.

Sure, why not. Somehow, a Klingon double-agent ended up being dull as dishwater, let's not dwell on him any further.

At least this cemented my opinion that there were not really two separate people in that head. Just two personalities and now they started to merge.

My understanding is that he's Vog with genetic tampering, extreme body modifications and brainwashing to think he was Tyler. The real Tyler is dead. It was all explained very quickly and I was pushing through my marathon watching so I did leave those scenes a little overwhelmed with details.

I'm completely baffled why everyone is fine with a Klingon sleeper agent who murdered Hugh walking around freely on the ship and then set loose on the universe without even so much as a formal trial.
I find the character really interesting but that detail is going to bother me forever or until it's resolved.

I just finished both seasons. I am glad I am not the only one confused.

I really like actor and liked Tyler at his intro... but what seemed liJoe a good idea just feels like a mess.

If he had known Burnham before the conversion i could have bought the whole love story and why it would switch him to Ash rather than Voq.

But by the end...a now trusted Section 31 leader... makes no sense anymore.

What he is now is a familiar face who can be twisted and used as needed for the plot
