USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

As much as I want to see the Enterprise again (yay Enterprise!), I kind of want to see the Farragut, and that way if it looks different than the Enterprise we can just say that's because its a different ship that we didn't see in TOS.
Kirk would be a cool character in Season 2, but maybe William Shatner could be Captain Garrovick?

Shatner dies again in ST? Gets my vote.

At planet Tycho IV. Unless that system and planet are seen in an upcoming episode then no, we won't see the Farragut's crew along with Captain Garrovick get killed.

I still think it will be the Enterprise because that will be a bigger "OMG" moment than a ship 99% of people have never heard of.
Using the Farragut instead will give the scriptwriters a bit of canon wriggle room, seeing Kirk rather than the 1701 means there wont be too much of a thread meltdown if its similar in size to the Discovery.

Probably...

And if she's a Connie like the Mike and Denise Okuda reference books and CBS/Paramount have said for years then if she is "25%" different from the TOS appearance of a Constitution-class starship then we can always rationalize the differences to be how the Farragut had been modified since her launch. Remember, even the Lexington during the M5 wargames in 2268 had small cosmetic differences from the Enterprise.

Yeah I agree on the wiggle room. But if they show a Constitution Class, in order to avoid a "meh" moment if they establish and use the Farragut as a Connie then they must show it:
  1. Kicking 7 types of sh!t out of the Klingons
  2. Establishing via bridge dialogue (on Discovery) that it has a hotshot gunner named Kirk who beat the Kobayashi Maru.
That way fans old and new "get" the significance of the Farragut. However I am inclined to think it's far more likely to be the Enterprise they show, with exterior shots only and possibly voice transmissions from Pike.

But if they make it a Connie, why would it be a different size from others?

Look at how fans try and rationalise the TMP ship as the same ship as the TOS one with mass size changed. You will have an excuse how its not the same ship or will be refit later or some nonsense.

The sensor nodes/"windows" on her saucer section were a different number and configuration. That's the most noticeable difference.

And Commodore Wesley's command chair was different. It was the same as the MU Enterprise's chair from "Mirror, Mirror".

This is not intended to imply that a badass like Robert Wesley didn't DESERVE a chair like that, mind you.

Some may be hoping that if the Constitution class is shown it will be the same size as in TOS, I really don't think it will be.

We never saw the Farragut in TOS which means they have more freedom as its never been shown, the 1701 is another matter entirely.

I don't think it will be a different size from the ships we have seen like the Discovery and the Europa, Starfleet ships seem to be significantly larger than in TOS, I really cant see the 1701 being its original size.

I am expecting some serious changes to the 1701 if we see it based on what I have seen so far, its going to be 2009 all over again.
