It's just all some sort of vagueish wormhole / blackhole / event horizon theme.
As you may know, verterons are made-up particles in Star Trek associated with wormholes. My avatar is Gargantua from Interstellar (a blackhole, but real physics suggests blackholes and wormholes are strongly related). As for the latin, blackholes do indeed have an accretion disk that could be imagined as a light shining from darkness. However, I really chose latin for two reasons, one it delivers gravitas (oh look, another blackhole pun), and two, I really like the film Event Horizon (oh look, ANOTHER blackhole pun) which features the phrase tutemet ex inferis and I just made up something similar sounding
It's basically puns all the way down with me.
Well, each to their own of course, but imho with this approach you run the risk of not being taken seriousely.

^ I heard from her over the holidays. She has wrist problems which make it too difficult to type.
He was a good guy. We talked once about Space: 1999 and he mailed me a DVD of a documentary about the making of the show.
I hope she's okay, because we have a tradition of exchanging Christmas cards and I was a bit concerned when I I didn't receive one this year. I'd seen her last login was in November so I wondered about her health, but it's good to know she's doing well otherwise.
Yes, same here. Do you think she'd like having snail mail from us? Perhaps it'd cher her up a bit.

Must be the season - my tennis elbow is protesting pretty badly today (we had a public knitting marathon last weekend, with the proceeds going to the local children's clinic =) It was a lot of fun but 14 hours was a bit too much for my old joints).
