Jennifer Lien in trouble again?

It seems since she left Voyager she's just gone down hill. Maybe she wouldn't have gone down the same path that she did if she continued.
Or maybe it still would have gone this way if she didn't leave the show.

Who's to say that leaving the show was the cause of these issues, or maybe she had personal issues (that may not have manifested themselves so publicly) even prior to joining the cast. Jennifer Lien has had a life full of experiences that made her who she is. It seems a little simplistic for us to think that the one thing that we publicly know about her is the cause of her problems.

Blaming Voyager for her personal issues may be a case of the logical fallacy "Post hoc ergo propter hoc"

True, but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been the catalyst for her downward spiral.

Consider the situation of someone losing their job for no reason other than "We were going to fire that other guy but decided it would be bad for publicity. Sucks to be you, go pack your things. We might throw you a bone in a few years and crap over your character's legacy if we're feeling generous. Now, where did that hot chick's number go?"

I've always suspected that being fired from Voyager is one of the reasons, maybe the main reason to Jennifer's current problems. What I've heard, she was very depressed for being kicked out.

I don't understand it when people point the finger of blame for her being fired as causing her breakdown.

People who hit bottom like this usually have spent most of their lives struggling with mental illness. It would never take one incident to cause something like this. If she was "together" before, well, a lot of people who struggle with mental illness are able to keep up appearances for work, especially actors.

That might be true.
But being fired from Voyager might have been what really detonated the bomb.

The whole situation sounds like what happened with Grace Lee Whitney on TOS; she even said that when she was let go, 'I felt shitty, then suicidal.' This sounds to me very much a catalyst event, and that's what happened to Lien (I have a cousin who was about to get married and she had a baby on the way, and when her fiancee didn't want to go through with it, the combination of that and the post-partum depression she was suffering caused her to suffer a mental breakdown; last I heard, she hasn't fully recovered from it.)

Grace Lee Whitney has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an executive associated with Star Trek before she was let go from the series. Unless something similar also happened to Lien, I doubt the situations of their respective departures are that similar.

I'm not sure if being fired was the thing that help make her life spiral out of control. In fact if she had major mental health issues it might have even contributed to it. Lot's of stress from long work days and the pressure of being on a show that you know is going to come with lots of attention since it's Trek. For me I think my job helped make my own OCD and Depression get even worst to a point where I was talking to imaginary people and coming close to killing myself. Also the sexual abuse angle can't be ignored now that we know what we know and add in the fact that she started acting at a young age. Not sure if she started as a young kid but I know she was in some stuff I believe as a teenager before the show such as some show where she was a tennis prodigy or something like that. I never saw the show.

The show was called Phenom, and no, she wasn't the main character; Angela Doolan (Angela Goethals) was. Her character was called Roanne.

She was a young though, wasn't she? Does she have any credits as a child actor? Wouldn't be shocked if she might have started doing commericals as a kid or whatnot. It's actually kind of surprising when you realize how many actors started off as kid actors that you didn't know. I know years ago when I still had stuff recorded on VCR tapes I had something recorded with some old adds in it and one of them had Alison Mack from "Smallville." in it. Granted she also might be someone who has problems if you believe that sex cult thing that she is either running or apart of. I kind of lost track of that story.

My heart breaks for her. It seems as if she is struggling with health issues, and I hope she has a loved one that can support her and can help her get the help she needs.

How awful! It doesn't matter if your acting career is a short or successful long run, a lot of actors and musicians and writers fight costly or losing battles against some form of addiction. I hope Lien doesn't end up in a early grave like poor Carrie Fisher did and Leonard Nimoy won against his demons.

Pleaded guilty to DUI first offense yesterday. Assessed $1269.50. If I am reading the fee description correctly, some kind of treatment and license revocation are involved. No other details on the sentence.

I guess she'll be lucky if she gets away with treatment and license revocation this time.
As I see it, the license revocation is absolutely necessary so she'll not kill some innocent person and/or herself while DUI.
I really hope that she'll get the right treatment and that it will help her back to a normal and hopefully better life.
But sometimes I just have a bad feeling about all this. :weep:

And that good looking girl from that 70's or 80's series "Happy Days" who died recently. Obviously a lot of similarities in these cases.

Erin Moran died of throat cancer. Neither illegal drugs nor alcohol were involved as the cause of death. Just what similarities are people imagining? :wtf:
