I was about to ask since when is Kanye West an actor, but then I suppose a self-absorbed ruler of the universe is more or less how he acts in real life anyway.Somebody mentioned Kanye West as Leto III or Shaddam IV. If he's Shaddam IV, that would be interesting
With Dune being set 24,000+ or whatever years in the future, I used to assume that there will have been so much gene shuffling that everyone would be brown skinned and brown eyed. However, the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium model argues against my assumption provided selection, migration, mutation and other factors don't come into play significantly. However, I don't have any problem with having a very diverse cast for such a project provided they can actually act.
ThirdedSame here. I enjoyed his performance in CoD far more and felt he really grew into role.
Not necessarily. Paul, even in the book, comes across as arrogant, a little bratty at first, and even later on, there was still a bit bragadocious.I don't see how anyone can think that was a good creative decision and is the complete opposite to the book.
A whiny entitled brat probably would have fallen victim to the hunter-seeker (assuming that such a teenage survived the the gom J'abbar).

*Note: I'm not a big fan of Villeneuve. I know he's the new it director but I find all of his films so far to have major flaws and zero re-watchability, so I'd be happy if he moved on, but I know others are excited for him.
I'm reading Dune now for the first time (yeah, yeah, I'm way behind, hush) and while I love Denis Villeneuve's work, and I think he'd do a generally great job of capturing the book's tone and atmosphere, I strongly agree with everyone who's suggested that the book would be best served as a TV series. From what I've read so far, the first book could easily fill ten episodes' worth of material.
Dune mentioned spice miners and Aliens mentioned another bug hunt which were swipes at Dune and Starship Troopers respectively.
