I like what they did but the Klingons are so stoic that regaredless how awesome the plot is just them as bad guys feels underwhelming.

Well, yeah. But it's only been 9 episodes so far, that's a complaint for season 3 should klingons still be the only antagonist faction then.

The Klingon story is definitely my least favourite aspect of the show. I'd like them to move on from it fairly rapidly, although not necessarily to another 'big bad'.

I really hope where we left in terms of that end of the midseason cliffhanger might be a direction the series goes into. We're in an unknown part of space and don't know what to expect. I'm already more intrigued by that than what Kol was doing on some Esophagus ship.

Jonathan Frakes (who is directing the next episode) has already told us exactly what to expect. Let's just say, it'll likely involve BDSM lesbians, if you know what I mean.

Well, I haven't read that interview, so thanks for spoiling... something. ;)

Wasn't an interview, he revealed this while he was onstage at a convention in the fall before the show had even premiered.

Was that the Las Vegas convention? If not than I still missed it and I'm trying to go into the new episode not knowing very much.

Well, for what it's worth you now know exactly as much as the rest of us, so there's nothing else to spoil.

But getting back to the OP, yes, the show could do a lot better in the villains department than the Klingons. The Vulcan terrorists, for example, interest me a lot more.

Wait, you're serious about the BDSM thing? That doesn't seem to mesh well with how Into the Forest I go Ended. It's that part of the story I'm most fascinated with.

'Mirror universe' didn't necessarily mean that mirror universe with gold sashes and bdsm, of course.

A Mirror Universe without BDSM lesbians is no Mirror Universe for me.

Well, sort of. Jonathan Frakes did say that the episode he directs is set in the Mirror Universe, which is known for its BDSM lesbians.

Will we see a Bearded Sarek?

Now that you mention it, I do remember the whole thing about the Mirror Universe, but I'm really hoping we start next week a little more than "hey, we're in the mirror universe". Heck, I would love if they actually did start in the prime universe, meaning all this time we've been in the Mirror Universe.

    Then what's the point?

This is why the Empire can't have nice things.

In the Mirror Universe? The resistance to both the Terran Empire and the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.

They need to introduce The Dominion. I'm kidding! I'm kidding!

But, seriously. I don't think we need another adversary at this point. If there isn't conflict with the Klingons, there can be conflict within Discovery, within Starfleet, or infighting between members of the Federation because they disagree about various issues. What if the Federation is as divided as the Klingons but they're just better at hiding it? Idle speculation.

If there's a vacuum that calls for another adversary, in the absence of anything else, then I think we should have one. I don't think we're there right now.
