Events talked about or alluded to in movies you would've liked to have seen in said movie

Not that the damage wouldn't be catastrophic, but wasn't it just a regular Star Destroyer and not a Super Star Destroyer on Jakku? I admit, seeing the Battle of Jakku would be badass since Star Destroyers and AT-ATs were involved. In my head canon, I picture a one armed, angry Mace Windu fighting in the battle, pulling the Star Destroyer out of the sky, Starkiller-style (for you Star Wars: The Force Unleashed fans out there).

Agreed. As a huge fan of the future flashbacks in the first 3 films, I was deeply disappointed in how the war was depicted in Terminator Salvation. Terminator Genisys did a much better job of recreating that vibe for the prologue of the film but I would still like to see a whole movie like that.

There's an interesting progressive decay in those movies. The Road Warrior looks totally post-apocalyptic but Mad Max looks more like they just fired all the janitors.

Power Rangers (2017) had a really cool prologue with the earlier fight with Rita where she killed all of the other Rangers and mortally wounded Zordon so that he got stuck in some kind of time warp. It would be cool to see that fleshed out as a full movie.

Speaking of Power Rangers, I always wanted a lot more backstory on Andros from Power Rangers in Space. Most fans infer that he previously worked with another team of Rangers that were killed before he hooked up with T.J., Carlos, Ashley, & Cassie, which is why he's such a loner at the beginning of the series. But I'd love to see that more fleshed out.

During the centuries that elapsed between Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection they refer to the fall of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. I would love to see more of that. I thought it would be a great setting for AVP3 actually.

I still have pictures in my head of 2 more Underworld prequels: Birth of the Immortals which shows us when Markus & William first got turned and War of the Elders which shows the conflict between Markus, Viktor, & Amelia and gives us a better idea of how they came to form the Chain as a way of maintaining the peace.

 

This one has had novel coverage - the Lost Era novel Serpent Among The Ruins is about the Tomed incident.

 

I've heard talk that the Alien movies are actually in the same universe as Firefly - explains why Weyland-Yutani is mentioned in the FF pilot episode, and how Earth's dystopian setting in Alien: Resurrection (both the "Earth, man. What a shithole" comments, and the ruined city of Paris as shown in the last scene of A:R) leads directly into Earth being abandoned and humanity setting out for a new system, as the FF history records.

Fun fact: The only reason the dystopian angle was ever introduced in Mad Max was because there wasn't enough money in the budget to properly maintain the sets.

 

Wetland-Yutani was also established as a client of Wolfram & Hart in the Angel episode "Harm's Way."

 

I noticed around the time that Fury Road came out, that each movie gets progressively bigger, and farther from our world.
The first one is pretty close to what we had at the time, just with things in slightly worse shape.
Then in The Road Warriror society has collapsed and gangs like the Maurauders have risen.
In Beyond Thunderdome bigger settlements like Barter Town are now appearing.
Fury Road shows even bigger allied groups like The Citadel, Bullet Farm, and Gastown.
As the series progresses we see these groups becoming bigger and more powers, which does seem logical as we move farther away from our modern society and towards whatever comes next.

I'd never heard that before, makes you wonder what the series would have become if they had more money.

 

I have a theory about Fury Road:

Spoiler: Fury Road

You'll notice that in the original films, Max and his wife Jessie have a son. A son. Yet in Fury Road, Max's child is a daughter. And the son (from Mad Max) is killed by bikers, yet when FR Max has flashbacks to his daughter, she's run over by a TRUCK.

My theory is that the Max from Fury Road is actually the Feral Kid from The Road Warrior - who grew to adulthood and took on Max's name as a tribute to him. Thus, the 'real' Max is probably long dead by the time Fury Road takes place.

It would certainly explain why Fury Road is so much more dystopian than any previous film in the series. Max appears to be the same age in FR as he is in the other films, yet society has degenerated much more rapidly than you'd expect...

I mean, in FR, it seems like Max is the only one who has even the slightest idea of what civilization used to be like, and yet (judging by his apparent age) not a lot of time has actually passed since the apocalypse. I don't see any other explanation as to how all knowledge of civilization and order could have been completely wiped out in so short a time. Even if there was a nuclear war.

Other evidence that backs up this theory...

Spoiler: Thunderdome and Fury Road

- In Road Warrior, Max gives the Feral Kid a small wind-up music box. Which the Max from Fury Road just happens to have in his possession.

- In Fury Road, Max speaks very little throughout the film. And when he does speak, it's basically just grunts and things like that.

- When FR Max actually DOES speak, he says "Max...My name is Max...That's my name." He says it really weird, like it's the first time he's EVER said it.

 

I've heard that theory before, and I do like it.
Another idea I've heard that I think is kind of cool is that "Max" is more of a mythological figure in the Wasteland, and what we are seeing are simply different stories people tell about him.

 

Or it could be even more meta:

There is no apocalypse, no Max, the whole thing is just the dreams of Captain Walker who likes to fantasize about being Max. (indeed, isn't Max supposed to look like Walker anyway? )

I just read on the Wiki page for Max, that Fury Road was originally supposed to be the end of the series, and would have ended with a redeemed Max settling down, but when they changed actors they decided to leave it open.

 

^ Yeah, apparently they were set to shoot Fury Road with Gibson back in 2001, but the area they eventually shot the movie in had a lot of rain, and it became overgrown with green so they had to delay the movie for years so the area would look desolate again.

 

I'd like to see the rectification of the Vuldronai, and the shubs and zuuls roasted in the depths of the sloar.

A Krull backstory. I've always wondered about Ynyr's youth. He was obviously an adventurer and warrior, maybe a go-to guy for Colwyn's dad. I suspect he also wielded The Glave at one time. Ynyr constantly gazes lovingly at it, as if remembering when HE was the young warrior like Colwyn, with his own Lyssa at home waiting for him (and waiting, and waiting...). Since Krull is a nearly forgotten property now, I'll probably have to write this when I retire.
