Jurassic World 2 (2018)

I am getting a vibe here. Normally, resucing dinosaurs from an volcanic island would be enough for a two-hour movie. Reading about this film, the rescue will occur in the first hour, with the second hour dedicated to another plot - the conspiracy. I can not see this flm being anything other than being tonally challenged.

Seems to be her signature move now. She just wanders the island, looking for situations where she can step in at the last second and look like a hero. ;)

Because no one would notice a T-rex standing nearby waiting to snarf up another dinosaur, right? No water pulses giving away her steps this time? I don't care, though, because seeing dinosaurs in all their glory is pretty much the only reason I go to see these movies.

I think the T-Rex has learned to run in her toes :)

That’s been the T-Rex’s signature move since 1993. Remember how nobody noticed her until the end of the When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth banner scene? Rexy is very good at hiding.

That was my point. One instance doesn't equal a signature move, but she's obviously making a habit of it now.

The volcano's been shown on maps I believe since the first movie. The Telltale game explained that the park ran on geothermal power.

The Parks actually running on geothermal power was also mentioned in The Lost World.

It does appear from the snippets showing a lot of dinosaurs prepared for removal that it's been a major undertaking to transplant as many specimens as they can, rather than the brief snatch-and-grab that Ludlow tried. It also appears that the final act makes place on the mansion on the mainland (maybe Woo's lab is based there?) which explains the kids being involved without the conceit of them managing to stay hidden undetected for the weeks it takes to get to the island.

No one checked that the volcano might be active before building TWO like 100 billion dollar parks on it?

Also did Site B also blow up in a volcano?

Everything in the trailer is supposedly from the first 56 minutes.

I saw the Jurassic World trailer on the big screen before the showing for The Last Jedi I attended this past weekend. It looked amazing and played much better in the large format. Changed my opinion from "meh" to "Yup, got to see this one when it comes out". YMMV

I'm thinking the second hour must be where the conspiracy mentioned in the synopsis comes into play. Maybe it's some kind of conflict over what to do with the dinos now that they saved them from the island?

Going by remarks Treverrow and others have made, I don't think they've ever fully dropped the idea of gun-toting, armor-wearing human-dinosaur hybrid soldiers (originating in a 'bonkers' rejected 2004 script by John Sayles), and that JW was consciously building up to that. So I'm thinking the midway point of this film, when the audience is gobsmacked by Owen's unexpected death and a shell-shocked Claire is picked up by Wu's forces and taken to the mainland, is when the floor gets totally yanked out from under both Claire and the audience as we are introduced to the genetically enhanced dino army.

I don't know, that seems pretty out there for the series to me, even as we're dealing with cloned dinsouars the series has still felt pretty grounded. I could see the military wanting to use dinosaurs, but I can't really see the whole human-dino hybrid thing actually happening.

And that’s probably the only Jurassic Park/World movie I would never go and watch.

Could have been thought to be extinct or dormant for millennia. And we currently have entire cities snuggled right up next to active volcanoes.

Besides, how many completely unpopulated large-ish tropical island paradises do you know that are up for sale?
