JON HAMM Pursuing BATMAN Role - Report The source goes on to describe Hamm as "desperate" for the Dark Knight gig, going so far as to be "carefully courting" The Batman director Matt Reeves for months.

“Matt thinks Jon is charming and was a big fan of Mad Men, so it seems like a great transition to him,” the source said.

Who is Jon Hamm? ;)

Serious question, who do I need to kill or sell my soul to in order to make this happen!

I am highly skeptical of this being real though. He has said he has been offered superhero roles in the past he turned down. Never said which ones. His reasoning was they all meant signing long term contracts. With no imput on sequels or any way of knowing who the writers or directors would. Which is how most of these franchises are. I do not blame him for feeling that way. Maybe if he had assurances that he would have the same director to work with each time he would change his mind.

Because he not playing "Ben Affleck".
Hamm's only a year older. Not much of a difference.

What the fuck does that mean? He's not playing Ben Affleck? Is that what you think? Why am I bothering to respond to such an idiotic post? Good grief.

What is the point in recasting Ben Affleck with an actor who is older than him?

Matt Reeves doesn't want to work with Affleck, but is planning a story that moves forward in the DCEU timeline past Justice League, not backwards; it's not that hard to figure out.

Also, Jon Hamm wanting the role doesn't mean he'll actually get it. It's entirely possible that Matt Reeves ends up going with his rumored "first choice" Jake Gyllenhaal, in which case, reports suggest, we'll see the age of the character in the DCEU 'de-emphasized' going forward.

Rumors suggest that he'll be appearing in Flashpoint, but that Matt Reeves wants to work with a different actor for The Batman, so it's more like he's rumored to be replaced in the role as opposed to quitting it of his own volition.

I like Ben Affleck very much and I hope he stays for a while in the role but if that doesn’t happen Jon Hamm would be a great replacement. And he’s only about a year older than Affleck.

EDIT: Michael Keaton would still be my first choice for an older Batman though. ;)

I think this would have been great--20 years ago. I'm also surprised given that he has been reluctant in the past to do superhero roles, despite looking the part.

A Flashpoint story is the perfect place to correct what I feel was a colossal mistake in having an older Batman. An older Batman works for a one off story like DKR, but not permanently. Justice League heroes should all be in their prime.

With some time travel mumbo jumbo, they could reset their universe with a Batman in his prime.

So Flashpoint could be used as a Days of Future Past, but for the DCEU.
