Given how quickly they "jump cut" to Kara being on a stretcher in the DEO being prepped for surgery, I'm pretty sure Alex and at least a few others were enroute when Reign dropped Kara off that roof.

The problem I have with scenes like that is you have this intense fight scene that is then interrupted and undercut with people listing who can and can't come for whatever reason.

When there's a space that shares several superheroes there are always going to be situations where someone could have helped if they got there, so I think it's wise to go in with a default "couldn't get there in time or was otherwise prevented" mindset and not demand it be said or explained away on screen every time a situation like that occurs.

As a rule, of course. But there are exceptions to every rule, and a comment about a specific situation should not be mistaken for a blanket generalization. There are many cases in which I would not object to the hero handling things themselves. But in this particular situation, toward the end, I was starting to feel that backup would be a good idea. That is not a commentary on anything except this specific instance.

A poor explanation. Superman should have been involved in the Fort Rozz storyline given the near-extinct nature of his species. No amount of spin doctoring can excuse why he would not have an intense interest in any part of his species appearing on earth then, or in the Reign situation now. I've given the show a small pass in that the Reign (aka major Kryptonian event) arc just started, but if 3B moves forward, and Superman has no involvement, its just more showrunner BS.

    Nope.

It's a perfectly valid explanation that you don't want to accept... which isn't the producers' fault.

I think it proves that the show needs better world building. This is a big universe with amazing characters like Supergirl, Superman Martian Manhunter and more. Even if they just dropped some hints in dialogue about what Superman is up to, it would go along way to creating a bigger universe for the audience.

I do think it would be cool to see, say, a 2-parter where Kara goes to Metropolis to help her cousin with a problem and we finally get to meet Lois and Perry. But I don't need to hear constant references to what Superman's up to, any more than I need constant references in Arrow to what Vixen's up to. It should come up when there's a story purpose to it, like Legends's Vixen reference to explain why Amaya left the team. Otherwise, it'd just be a distraction.

You know, it would be easy to have them drop a line about Lena's brother having broken out of prison again.

"Why didn't Lex call Lena to help him break out of prison?" ;)

But what if he, like the show, conveniently forgot she's out there :D

John can rip brains in half.

And Mon-El has maybe learnt a new trick or two in the last seven years.

ALSO... Mon-El and Irma know from the historical record, that Kara is going to make it out the other side without their help, and obviously their help could have tipped the timeline in Reigns favour.

Well, Mon-El had to tell them about Kara, which sounds like there's not much of her in historical records of the 31st century. And Mon-El did only know her up until a certain point in time.

Yeah. I think this is true of a lot of the comics too. The 21st century is more myth and legend than historical fact to people living in the 31st century.

It sounds like civilization was going through a rough patch before the Legion was formed. A lot of historical records may have been lost, or at least misplaced. Or maybe most people in the 31st century just know bits and pieces of 21st-century history. How much does the average person today know about the 11th century? The Norman conquests? Macbeth's reign? The First Crusade? El Cid? The Seljuks? The Tale of Genji, The Song of Roland? The invention of movable type?

Isn't that the other way around? Most people know about historical figures but would not be able to say from which century they were. Like Jeanne D'Arc or Charlesmagne. If Superheroes don't become stale because they are so many of them, Supergirl should/could be remembered or become a story of some kind.

Kara's fought other Kryptonians including her cousin so probably didn't expect Reign to be any different i.e a known quantity and that she'd be able to take her out and be home in time for bed.

In the (1987 legends) Cosmic Boy Limited series, the time lost legion hide out in a seedy hotel, talking to each other about how the past is not exactly what the history books taught them, which is when one of them turns on the TV showing news where the Challenger explodes, and the room goes mental.

I'd have to rewatch the episode, but did they actually say that Mon-El made them aware of Supergirl's existence for the first time, or that he was able to give them specific information about someone they'd only heard of as a legend before? I mean, they may have known that she was a powerful figure who fought other aliens and human foes in the 21st century, but maybe Mon-El was the one who told them why she fought, what she had really stood for, and that was what inspired Imra and the others to follow the same path.

Again, a poor excuse for showrunners wanting to add Superman as a doorstop, but never involving him in a situation that--by even modest forms of common sense--would interest him as it centers on the last few survivors/heritage of his dead civilization. Showrunner agenda prevented that, so once again, said agenda screws the series.
