I agree he came from a situation where information about Daisy, with the news broadcast made by Director Mace he made a leap. The most famous public real Inhuman provided an explanation because she had a power set to cause what happened. Despite her mother's explanation of the Quake power being almost unlimited Daisy has never shown the power needed to do what happened to earth as her own body could not stand the strain. On the other hand there are a couple members of the Inhuman royal family which have a similar power set

Yeah, up until now Daisy has gotten fractured wrists from just building flattening levels of her power. Shattering a planet? I don't think so. She's shred herself into a bloody pulp *way* before being able to get up to that level of magnitude. Whatever the cause I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that Fitz was left behind and that the others were sent forwards by some alien (probably not Kree going by the shower scene) to fulfil some purpose. Predestination paradox maybe?
"Well, I'm a biologist, but sure, I can invent time travel, just give me a minute." That was one hell of a premiere! Easily the best one they've had yet! In just 80+ minutes (after removing the excessive commercials), the season has already done extensive world building filled with plenty of humor from all of the characters and established engaging mysteries with plenty of unanswered questions, including but not limited to "Where is Leo and why wasn't he on the list?" The other big question is how much is the show going to stick with the predestined paradox? The fact that Daisy supposedly destroyed the world indicates that somehow at lease she will return to the past, but if she does, will she be able to avoid her and Earth's fate? Nice use of the Framework in the future. I'm glad it's not entirely forgotten, utilized here as a much-needed drug. I wonder how much the show will explore that theme? Plus, I expect that will be a staging ground to help Phil and company to build a resistance. Unless I missed it somehow, but did none of our heroes ask what year they're actually in now? I know Deke said something about 90 years ago, but that's not a hard and fast answer. Seemed rather odd no one asked that question, particularly Phil and Jemma. As for Jemma, I wonder how much free will she has now. Interesting how that silvery liquid limits her hearing to whatever Kasius says whenever he wants her to hear him. As much as I would like to see a stronger connection to the films, I highly doubt this will happen.
Given that recorded history was wiped out, it's entirely possible they don't actually know exactly what year it is anymore, only vaguely to the nearest decade. Even that's probably just because people still remember the "elders" who presumably there to witness the destruction, so it's only been a generation or so. Was it a liquid? I'll have to go back and check again but my impression was that it was an organic creature of some sort.
Yeah, that makes sense from a production standpoint, but it still makes Phil and Jemma uncurious, which goes against their nature. That makes sense, although I still find it odd that no one actually asked. Good point about the elders and would go with Deke's "90 years ago" comment. I could be wrong. That's what I thought it was but the moment went by fast. That whole exchange is the best thing to ever come out of that series.
Wow, that was a great start to the season, I really like the arc we appear to be starting. I'd already seen one or two people on here theorize that it was the future, so that wasn't a huge shock, but what exactly had happened and what was going on was a surprise. So far I'm liking most of the new characters, Deke and Tess seem like pretty interesting character, and Kasius is already starting off as a good villain. The big reveal at the end was interesting, and I'm very curious how exactly it'll impact the bigger story. I'm assuming they'll eventually end up finding a way back to the present and will then have to try to figure out what happens with Quake and then prevent it. After a few bits and pieces with the Kree over the years, I look forward to getting an entire story arc focused on them. Yeah, I thought it was kind of a either silver or transparent slug creature.
I realized that I was wrong about them not being in the future as soon as I saw the white monolith. Great premiere! I can't wait to see where the story goes next.
I was annoyed that it took the characters so long to figure out they were in the future. It was pretty obvious just from Virgil said about the prophecy. I am struck by the similarity to the premise of Showtime's Odyssey 5, a Manny Coto series from 2002. That involved a space shuttle crew witnessing the destruction of the Earth and being sent back in time 5 years by a friendly alien so they could figure out what caused it and try to prevent it. The moment they realized that Earth had blown up was when they saw a car drift past them, not unlike the school bus moment here. I wonder, is this a deliberate homage or just one of those coincidences that are bound to happen when different creators tackle similar concepts?
Well, last season left me a bit underwhelmed and feeling like the show might have exceeded its "best by" date, but this was totally worth the renewal! Favorite lines: "Walk me through it like I'm a child...a foreign child." "This has to be the coolest we've ever looked." I liked how they didn't actually mention what year had been the "current" one for the team, so as not to further complicate the timeline of the movies that they seem to be in the process of re-evaluating after recent films. I twigged to the nature of the debris field just before they revealed it. I'm skeptical of the supposed Daisy revelation as well. What about Doctor Strange? -MMoM
It's large enough to have a modest amount of gravity, and the destruction was recent enough that not all of the air might have outgassed yet. Although it should have already begun to collapse into a more compact shape under its own gravity. But an atmosphere dense or warm enough to breathe seems unlikely. Anyway, what are you basing the existence of an atmosphere on? I don't remember that being established.
Yeah but there is still an atmosphere is what I'm getting at. But did he mean the alien "roaches", or actual roaches?
But, as @Christopher said, apparently not one dense or warm enough to support life as we know it. However, I'm no astrophysicist, so maybe it's still implausible anyway, I don't know...
