Spoilers Walking Dead Season 8 discussion and spoilers.

Thank goodness for Z Nation because TWD is boring! I have stuck with it for 7 seasons and am seriously considering not watching it after this season ends. It seems not to be going anywhere.
Jesus... this show needs to either be cancelled or get a new showrunner. I can only suspend disbelief so much...
I loved the .50 Calibur machine gun firing dozens of rounds of ammo and cutting to see Rick's Jeep deflecting the shots like a Jedi deflecting blaster bolts (even one bouncing off the fucking windshield!) Then, we see a little hiss of air as the radiator is hit.
I loved Carol's "ambush" of the people lugging the .50 Cal around. First, she shoots the guys standing single file, then, instead of waiting for the next round of people to pick the gun up and shoot them too, she runs off. Then stands out in the open yakkity-yakking, giving them ample time to shoot her, but they don't, because plot.
The other thing that grates my nerves is that we're supposedly in "ALL OUT WAR!!!!!" But, we're still only focusing on a couple of characters at a time. It's been four freaking episodes since we've seen Negan, the "BIG BAD" of this "ALL OUT WAR!!!!!"
Edit: I forgot to mention, I initially fell asleep 20 minutes into this and almost didn't watch it the next night. I kinda wish I hadn't.

I know how you feel regarding TWD I haven't watched a single episode as it was aired this season. All have been watched on record a few days later some in 2/3 parts. Its at a point for me where only the 1st episode, the mid season episodes and the final episode are the ones to watch rest of the season is just filler.
I could easily point you to other current fantasy series that would deserve cancellation before TWD....
Much like Indiana Jones can outrun poisoned blow darts from seasoned natives running only a few feet behind him, not have his body ripped apart while dragging behind a vehicle moving on hard dirt at high speed, and so on. Its fantasy.
It was dangerous for her to maintain the ceiling position, as it would not have taken the survivors long to see that she must be nearby (meaning not in the hallway), and unlike Carol, they had the time to wait her out.
Er....the war just started, and with rag-tag groups, strategic hits will be the order of the day, rather than a reenactment of The Longest Day. Further, the season just started, and in-series, its not long after the events of the season 7 finale, so the conflict is yet to truly explode.
Indiana Jones is a fun adventure series that doesn't take itself too seriously. The Walking Dead takes itself WAY too fucking seriously.
Why? They weren't making any effort to look for her. She could have hid behind the file cabinets and took them out.
So, at the glacial pace this show moves, focusing on two characters at a time, we can expect the thrilling final confrontation between Rick and Negan sometime around the end of season 15?
I kept thinking "Hey, it's Peter Fonda".
T.F.,a series about cannibalistic corpses is fantasy, not a documentary, so there's a certain amount of breathing room it automatically earns, as its not trying to sell every detail as true to life.
Staying in a position like that would risk a firefight she would not survive, since there was nowhere else to move /run to.
So, at the glacial pace this show moves, focusing on two characters at a time, we can expect the thrilling final confrontation between Rick and Negan sometime around the end of season 15?
Season 20. TWD needs to stop rushing through plots.

At this point I enjoy that one more. (Actually I always kinda liked it.)
Once I get through the rest of my DVR'd programs, I plan on binge-watching Fear. I've heard (almost universally) that it was never as good as the original, but I'll give it a day in court, at any rate.

Anyway, tonight's WD episode...
"The Big Scary U"--
We can see Negan suspects Dwight and Simon are behind the success Rick's group is enjoying. In the flashback, I do suspect having Negan put Simon back into his place--in front of Simon's own punk, Gregory--as a bit of misdirection; some second in command types will stay even as the ship sinks. This could be a deliberate contrast to the apparent rift between Rick and Daryl.
Speaking of Rick and Daryl, I guess you could say it was a long time coming, and implies Daryl might end up joining Maggie IF the split in the alliance happens (as predicted), but it was nice to see their fight, then instinctively pull together like brothers to avoid the explosion, even if the truce was temporary.
The tension between the "department heads" (Simon, Dwight, Arat, Regina, Gavin and Eugene) was solid, not only to show the seeds of a breakdown, but in who might be playing both sides. On that related note, Eugene's putting all of his chips on Dwight, but I think he's overlooking a potential ally in Laura (the woman who introduced him to the sanctuary). There's just something about her that seems like she might see Negan as a weak leader before anyone else among the Saviors.
The Negan vs Father Gabriel scenes were the winners of the episode--and season so far, with Gabriel's "I'm here to take your confession", for all of the strange implications behind it. He's always been able to read people well, and you could see he knew exactly what buttons to push with Negan, eventually getting him to talk about his real wife's plight.
Helicopter. Endless possibilities.
Overall, the drama was boiling over--exactly what this season promised, if viewers are patient enough to wait for it.

For all the backstory episodes we've seen, the one I've really been hoping to see most is Negan's. I'm glad we got a little insight into his background - and it does seem as if he honestly believes he's helping people. In a sociopathic way, sure, but I think he really believes it. I'm just curious what he was before the balloon went up. Was he the leader of a biker gang, or a former drill sergeant/combat veteran or maybe even a vending machine repairman? Gabriel has found his true calling and is probably the only one who can crack through Negan's titanium exterior (and steel ball sack
).
The helicopter...this one is a noodle scratcher. They HAVE to be seeing all the enormous explosions and other ordinance going off in the region. I doubt they're military though. If there were any surviving military personnel in the region with any kind of strength, they would have put an end to the inter-colony shenanigans in the region during the process of reclaiming the nation's capital. Can't have a ton of rogue militias running around when trying to restore any semblance of order while reestablishing the primary seat of power. So it's likely someone else - but who? Clearly someone who knows what's going on down on the deck and will not get involved - yet. Probably someone who's sitting back to see who wins before approaching the easily-dominated weakened victor.

What I am confused about is that before this season aired didn't they show flashback scene's to Negan's backstory where I think he was a gym teacher and a parent yet I have yet to see any of those clips included in a episode. I thought they would be used to tonight but we didn't see them.

I don't recall anything like that last season. It may have been a web-based short video that was used as a promotional thing, but IIRC there wasn't a single flashback reference to his history in any of the main-run episodes from S7. Would love to see that, though.
