Oh--my bad. I was more equating the human/not human dichotomy... Spock for sure as first officer. Saru is intriguing, but we're only 9 episodes into the first season!

Saru rates with Ferengi versus kiddie crew episode or playing with his joystick or Generations level Riker, but not Borg Riker. He was at full beard power against the Borg.

Nah, worst would be Data's XO on the Sutherland. That guy was a total douche.

Spock actually failed that one. As first officer, the job is to delegate and organize. Spock should *not* have been in that reactor. He should have been ordering an engineer (who is less vital to the ship) to do it instead.
Also, he wasn't even first officer during WoK. At that point Spock was captain of the Enterprise, which makes it doubly inappropriate.

I havent watched a lot of Orville, but Grayson was a stand out character for me. Her and Dr. Claire.
