Spoilers 'Into the Forest I Go' Preview Photos

A new news article has been published at TrekToday:

It’s Friday and that means CBS has released a new batch of promotional photos for Sunday’s episode. The episode, Into the Forest...

To my eye, the pics they keep releasing look to be staged specifically as publicity photos, rather than being stills taken directly from filming of the episode.

...in case anyone cares about that sort of thing.

Anyone want to guess what the glowy discs in the middle of the away vests are for?

Pattern enhancers?

Also, it seems as though CBS retouched the photo of Tilly. They went to town smoothing out Mary Wiseman's skin. Seems unnecessary.

Not as bad as Spock's magazine cover back when Trek 2009 came out, but it's still coming close to unsettling mannequinesque.

Is anyone else completely uninterested in these photos? Why specify they're preview photos when they basically could be from any episode? CBS has been awful with promotion of this show, from the lead-up to the premiere through present.

They seem to be making every effort to ensure the promo photos give absolutely nothing away regarding the plot of the episodes which hasn't been in the teaser. As a result, in 90% of cases, they're just boring scenes of actors standing around.

Also, as was noted, these are photos, not screencaps. Thus they're pre-effects processing, so you can't show outside scenes of the discovery, combat with phasers, Pahvo's sweeping panorama, etc.

I really don't like the medical variant of the uniform that Culber and other medical staff wear. It's just too "uniformy," stiff and proper. The sickbay peeps need something a little more loose and practical for sickbay instead of just a white version of the regular uniform. I keep thinking he's wearing "dress whites."

As for the Iron Man light on Tyler's vest -- have we seen that feature before? I don't recall. Maybe it was always there, but just never lit up? Maybe it's a built-in flashlight?

The dress whites look just misses the mark. I know medical in real life is often white but man, in a jump suit combo it isn't flattering.

I keep thinking why would they have medical staff in white especially during war time when they can expect mass casualties ? Those uniforms are going to get dirty and pick up everything really quickly in a crisis.

Life sign tracking?

Sari was tracking Georgiou's life-signs in BotBS and this light wasn't on the vest. Those vests were also missing the shoulder-mounted flashlights all the later iterations have, though, so who knows?

That's assuming they haven't made any advances in fabric technology. Those uniforms could be made of out anything and might be unstainable.

Same reason many doctors today wear white despite the fact that it will be stained by bodily fluids at some point: tradition.

There were also a crapload of white medical uniform PJ's in TMP.
McCoy and Chapel both wore one.
