Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

It does. I shone my phone's LED spotlight at it and took it into a dark closet. It works, but it does seem to require a fairly strong light source.
Ok, I used the trick of shining my phones flashlight on the Defiant for a couple minutes to charge it. Definitely makes a big difference.

Glad my assumption/advice worked for you guys. :bolian:

a lot of new images on eaglemoss' individual order pages of the shenzhou and discovery, including new dates: february 1 and april 1 respectively.

dave combe on the ealgemoss star trek fan group page has said that the collection is going to take a break after the release of the first two ships:

Not sure for how long, but it sounds like a couple months at least. Seems they only got a head start in producing Shenzhou and Discovery - other ships were finalized and delivered to them later on? I'm not sure the reasons for the delay specifically, but its not unusual for a collection to launch and then go on hiatus for a while. It shouldn't be too long a gap though before it continues at a regular pace.

it'll probably be nice to have a little break after the holidays and then the first two ships in the collection hitting our credit cards so i can live with it.

As much as the little kid in me screams "I want them all now !" I think it's definitely better for the wallet. Especially with the main collection still going on.

Speaking of the Discovery collection, looks like Startrek.com has identified some more of the class names from "Battle of the Binary Stars". Spoiler tag just in case, but only discussing ship names/classes, not sure if it's really necessary.

Clarke NCC-1661 Malachowski Class
Edison NCC-1683 Hoover Class
Europa NCC-1648 Nimitz Class
Kerala NCC- ? Shepard Class
T'Plana Hath NCC-1004 Engle Class I guess Dana/Ride would be the same ?
Shran NCC-1413 Magee Class
Yeager NCC-1437 Cardenas Class
So that leaves Earhart & Sioux right ?

There's no way I can afford the Discovery line. I think I'll pick up the two "hero" ships, but that will have to be it.

I don't think so. I believe using the BBS for commerce of any kind, even if in trade, is forbidden. I've often advocated for the setting up of a "for sale" forum where Trek/sci-fi specific items for sale could be mentioned, but it was never done. Your best bet is to flip it on eBay. I have an XL E-D and a first-generation E-D dedication plaque that I'm going to put up there at some point.

why are you selling your jumbo-D?

i was able to get a look at one at a hobby shop in northern california this week and i was not at all impressed with the sculpt...

It's an extra one. I started my XL subscription after I got the XL-D. I suspected they might send me another one so I called up their "customer service" to start the sub at the XL-E. They "didn't know how to do that" after the order had been placed and had to run my request "up to management". When they told me that, I thought, "Uh-huh. They're gonna send me the XL-D anyway, I bet". Sure enough...

If you live long enough to witness a consistent pattern of ineptitude and epic fail, it's actually quite easy to predict. If you work in a place chock-full of morons (like I do), where things break literally every day because they don't know how to do their jobs, you can amuse your coworkers with said predictions. I've been working in the same job for almost 8 years now, and my colleagues are continuously gobsmacked when I can predict the stupid shit that happens in this place. I've heard the phrase "How the fuck do you DO that?!?" more than once. :)

Fair enough, I know most places are like that. I'm not a huge fan of ebay, and there's other models I want, so figured just a straight trade might be my best bet...

I've always found Eaglemoss's customer service in the UK to be nothing short of excellent. From what I've read in this thread, it seems that there is a serious management problem in the US office.
Up until thnow I've had no problems with them, but apparently despite sending me an email saying they had cancelled my subscription like I asked, they hadn't.

To put it simply, his user expectations have been greater than what they have delivered and he feels slighted by them.

Sure, but that doesn't tell me anything without an answer to my simple question of "what were you expecting?".

I'm not trying to be an apologist here. I've got (for example) my own grudging beef over their Enterprise-E models. That doesn't tell you whether or not EMC is selling a bad product or I'm being unreasonable.

Then I tell you the why: I object to the ugly Digital Muse CG 1701-E model that wasn't good enough for Insurrection, wasn't good enough for the 5" model and certainly wasn't good enough for the XL. Now you know I'm being exacting at best and absurd at worst.

Counter example, source model aside, the first two E-Es I got had molding defects. Large bumps of excess material. That might be more understandable. Eventually I got one that was fine.

Context isn't just for kings, it's for anyone making a judgement.

I cancelled successfully after about 8 months but that was several years ago. I decided I would only buy those models that were of sufficient interest to me. Thr couple of issues for which I've needed to contact Eaglemoss since I cancelled my subscription have been resolved successfully. I'm always polite in my enquiries, which might help. Your case either sounds like an administrative error or a timing issue - the small print might state that there is a period of notice for cancellation.

Just had an e-mail for the UK site saying there's 10% off everything today... if you use the code BONFIRE10.
Which is fairly pointless when there's always codes like EAGLEMOSS10 and FLYER10 that give you that whenever you want (and never mind the COMIC20 that gets you 20% off).. but there you are if so desired.

Same here, I only wanted to spend money on those I really wanted, so I emailed to cancel and got a response saying that was fine and they had done so, which must have been a month ago.

Then the other day I found I had the money taken from my account, and two models sent out to me, the only thing I didn't get was the email saying they were on there way.
