Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

Or loss of interest in the brand. Yeah, that is possible with Star Wars at some point in time. Just because its safe now, doesn't mean you take it for granted.

For me, the potential danger of the loss of interest is putting out a safe tonally similar picture every year.

What I loved about Star Wars as a kid was the limited amount. It even made shit like the Ewok Adventure exciting.

As inferior as the Prequel Trilogy was in most respects you still had to wait three years between films and the advertising and merchandising buildups to each movie were incredible. Now you get trailers, TV commercials and toys in stores every single year and that takes away some of the allure and excitement of waiting to see cool things on the screen and at retail. When you get so much new product coming out on a yearly basis and the manufacturers and advertisers go absolutely apeshit with each promotional campaign, flooding the market with almost everything imaginable it becomes a somewhat less exciting franchise.

Star Wars is still awesome, but when you eat the same high-quality food all the time it still wears on your stomach and taste buds after a while. I don't care who you are, if you eat at a four-star restaurant every week sooner or later you're going to start getting bored and want to take a break for a little while.

Given how Rogue One was done, I'm no in any fear of that.

Also, even they start down that road, I still have the OT.

So far we only know we will have five, maybe six movies for sure. Three main line films and two or three anthology films, plus cartoons, which have been coming out for the last ten years of so. So seven years of Star Wars buildup for the most part with five for sure going to happen films to show for it, and then what? (Just how many Marvel films have been made under the Disney umbrella?)

More Anthology films? Probably, if Solo does as well or better than Rogue One. More main line films? Episode X seems a little soon if they are suppose to be generational. Unless they go the route of making some continuing adventures type films for Rey and company, like much of the old EU novels were Luke's group. Or do something radical and start making Old Republic era movies during the high point of the Sith Wars.

They can go anyplace really. Get all the possible use out of the new Disney theme part for Star Wars. Get back their investments and more over time. If Episodes VIII and IX give us a good trilogy story after TFA, than Disney and Lucasfilm will be set to do whatever for the next decade before they start to run out of steam.

That sounds more like it would have been a production code name than "working title." Unless you consider Blue Harvest to be ROTJ's working title.

The thread title is perfect and I urge it to remain unchanged until the spoiler-filled review thread begins.
But they announced a title for the movie, so the name doesn't really apply anymore.

"Never tell me the odds!"

... But, I suppose "Scruffy-looking Han Solo film thread" would be acceptable. ;)

(You gotta admit, the project has accumulated some appearance of scruff.)
