I'm fine calling it STD. We're taking back what was meant as an insult and through using it seriously, making it no longer funny or mean.
^^^But... It's, like, the most recognizable theme in Trek. One of the most recognizable themes in TV history.
Hey, I LIKE the show, but still use it because I find the double entendre of it amusing (along wit the fact some people just can't get over the use of the first 3 letters of a series title.)The only reason people use STD is to irritate people who don't like it. Unfortunately that works quite well, so it isn't going away.

Looking on the internet, I can find a few small references to STV and STE (pinterest, fan fiction sites), so they're not completely unheard of.
Dude, we're four freaking episodes in. If you don't like it, that's fine. Maybe it's just not for you. But, seriously, Discovery is just starting its journey.Actually, Discovery is lacking compared to modern dramas. Like The Handmaid's Tale, Mr. Robot, The Man in the High Castle, Mad Men, House of Cards.
starmike, it's not easy when you have hopes to enjoy something and it isn't working for you. It's not ranting or choosing to be negative, it's just how it is filtering back to you..
Much as I'm enjoying Discovery, and think it's one the best starts Trek has had, I certainly agree it should have the chance to grow, four episodes in House of Cards, Handmaid's Tale, and Man in the High Castle were all stronger. It's a Trek specific oddity, the need for a long run up.Dude, we're four freaking episodes in. If you don't like it, that's fine. Maybe it's just not for you. It's unfair that CBS has put this show behind a paywall. It should be broadcast freely just like its predecessors were! #GiveEveryoneSTD
What?
#FreeSTD
Hey, speaking of STD's and episode titles. They totally need to do a prequel to Naked Time. Naked Time, Naked Now... The Naked Forever. Have someone catch an STD.
Maybe Tilly, for the extra awkward factor. Ensign Water Bear. It'll be magic.
Here-here! This seems like a quibbly thing to complain about, but I feel that not including the the title at the beginning of Act 1, as in previous Trek shows, is a big oversight. Even The Orville has their titles on screen!"Magic To Make The Sanest Man Go Mad" -- I love these TOS/DS9 style titles
Now if we could just get them on the screen at the start of the episode!

No, what works really well is constantly complaining about something completely pointless and insignificant and letting everyone in the forum know that that is a very easy way to irritate you. That'll surely get them to stop! That's not how it works.
Wow, this STD matter is serious. Do I have to stop referring to Saru's fear boner as well?
*ahem* that's fear ganglia. Danglia? Uh oh, his fear bits are dangling out again.. Hum...
I haven't seen those other shows so I can't comment on them. But, I have been enjoying Discovery greatly. Agree about it being one of the best Trek starts. It's still early days though and I'm looking forward to seeing what's coming up!Much as I'm enjoying Discovery, and think it's one the best starts Trek has had, I certainly agree it should have the chance to grow, four episodes in House of Cards, Handmaid's Tale, and Man in the High Castle were all stronger.
