The Nitpickers thread - where complaints go to Gre'thor

If Michael is remembering Spock then shouldn't she remember Sybok?
Sybok was older than Spock. Maybe he was already gone before Michael came along.
Or maybe they're just ignoring that daft movie as they rightly should.

The movie cannot be ignored for the following reasons:

1. The performance by Dee Forrest Kelly about euthanizing his sick father.

2. "Why does God need a Starship."

3. The fact it probably was God and the Klingons killed him.

4. I also love Fallout: New Vegas planet.

Klingons betraying each other for food. I thought that they held honour above all else, and would rather starve than be so dishonourable.

Klingons are notorious hypocrites, always have been. But look at it this way, six months in service to the Albino and all they have to show for it are empty stomachs. Kol shows up with food and asks for their loyalty in exchange for continuous meals. Is there really much of a choice between following someone from a well-connected family who is offering food or following an orphaned albino who only provided one skinny human for nourishment and spent six months refusing to get a dilithium processor that could have gotten their ship working again?

Klingons are about as honorable as samurai or Medieval knights--which is to say they're more worried about the appearance of honor than actually having it.

Worf is the equivalent of Klingon Lawful Good while most veer closer to Chaotic Neutral.

Mind you, Voq is both "different" and incompetent.

Additional Note: Spore Drive and Voyager
No specific continuity nitpicks for The Butcher's Knife Cares Not For The Lambs Cry, (other than what has appeared in the previous episodes.) But rather how the Spore Drive is shown to work and possible compatibility with the Intrepid class ship. Even if Janeway and/or Seven knew about the Spore Drive it would be difficult to have the counter rotating ring sections on Voyager. However, it would certainly work on Borg Sphere ships. More on the Borg, below. Moreover, given Janeway's reaction to what the Equinox was doing, she wouldn't want to use a Tardigrade to guide Voyager's Spore Drive. Obviously the Borg wouldn't hesitate to assimilate as many Tardigrades as necessary to pilot Spheres through the Galactic Mycelium. But would the Collective stop there? They would try to assimilate the Mycelium itself...
Another possibility, the bioneural gel packs themselves might be advanced enough to provide the computational power to guide Voyager through the Mycelium to Federation space. And the Borg would use the raw computational power of the entire Collective if necessary if there are no Tardigrades available. It may be that something may happen to the Mycelium to make it unusable.

Mushroom drive is like mushroom pizza. It's amazing and the best thing ever, but no one wants to try it because they're skeeved out by mushrooms.

Their loss, imo.

I just wish that they had proper, lingering establishing/exterior shots of the ships. Everything goes by so fast that you can't get a proper look at anything.
There were Klingon Birds-of-Prey in the last episode. I can't tell you what they looked like.

They looked like Death Gliders from Stargate SG1.

Not even close to the design that they should be.

Yeah, I was trying to think what they reminded me of, and that's it. they were in Battle of Binary Stars as well.

Death Gliders from Stargate SG1 painted green. Makes all the difference.

:D

I actually thought they looked more gold/beige than green in Discovery... but having just rewatched it on the PC, seems it's dependent on lighting in different shots. The green really didn't stand out for me at times.

It's weird, but if there was one alien ship in Star Trek that would have looked great without a massive redesign, it is the Klingon Bird of Prey. However, I suppose these are earlier models than TOS era films.

I find it a bit weird that they seem to have decided to absolutely not use any existing designs even if they were good and would make sense given the time period.
