Wow, this is a shame. According to Alec Peters, comic writer Paul Jenkins has inexplicably joined Prelude Lite as a co-writer. Here is what he glowingly said of a project that has already ripped off 10,000+ consumers of over $1.5 Million by stealing the Star Trek IP and now has the legitimacy of Jenkins to help Alec steal even more money:

“Alec and his team have created something to be admired, in the true spirit of entrepreneurial filmmaking. As a fan of the project so far, I’m thrilled to be joining Axanar and I’m looking forward to helping make some magic!”

And with that, I have immediately cancelled my pre-order for Paul's God Complex series that I had been looking forward to, and will avoid anything he is a part of in the future.

Paul Jenkins, you lost a long-time reader today.

Wow, just wow.

I guess that answers the question of why this thread persists. Alec continues to persist.

Have you thought about writing Mr. Jenkins?

Oh, I get that bit, so that costs me. But what does whoever is doing that gain, other than free computing time for them?

The network coordinators run mining software that accepts mining assignments, farms it out to unsuspecting machines, coordinates the results and presents the solutions to obtain coins. Then they (not you) can spend the coins or sell them for cash. Net-net, you pay electrical bills so they can cash out coins. Possibly, a fraction of what they get is given to the websites that hijack their readers' computers into doing a piece of processing.

I got the mod thingie this morning, actually. Thanks! I am trying not to accidentally create a rift in the time-space continuum.

So far, so good.
I made the mistake once of dividing pie with pi. It was horrid, I ended up in an alternate reality full of lens flares. Don't do it!

More to the point, congratulations!

Well, an Axanar Fan Club (FB) replied that "everything" in Carlos' blog is inaccurate or wrong. I replied that I guess that settled that...after which someone said it was like "fake news". I didn't bother...

Here's a solution. Everytime you hear the phrase "its fake news", add the phrase "after I've proved its fake".

Congratulations. By the way, why the name change? I think folks will agree, you'll always be Madam Justice Jespah! :)

So, although they are using dodgy methods (using other people's computers), are they earning the coins legally, or stealing them? That's the bit my tech challenged brain isn't getting! :)

Oh, it's just for Halloween. In December, I'll be Chanukahjes.

Remember one thing: Peters does tend to get ahead of himself on announcements. He gets excited at the prospects of things and his head goes about five steps ahead.

It might be worth contacting the writer to see if there’s any truth to this.

If it is true, someone should send him some links to Axamonitor, just to make sure he's aware of what he's getting himself into.

That was my thinking, being similarly surprised by such a recognisable name jumping on board the project. I imagine it’s entirely possible he’s been fed the line about this amazing fanfilm, shown Prelude and figured it all looked good. If there’s one thing Alec is obviously good at, it’s the sales pitch.

Or maybe he’s fully aware and excited for the project. But unless Alec actually has a revenue source lined up I’ll be surprised if it happens. Heck even then their track record isn’t exactly stellar outside of Prelude (Heroes, Origins).

Remember when Axanar crashed a Yuri Gagarin 50th anniversary convocation by tech professionals, running a table I think, and then excitedly announced that they had been invited to show their 20 min film at JPL? I wondered whether that might get canceled after the scientists had a chance to review the history.

Did JPL see that idea all the way through?

Is that the time US- Russian relationship took a dive?
