Will Burnham have any romance on the show?

Didn’t they say something about her exploring a romance with the male officer who has PTSD? I don’t think he’s been on the show yet.

I don’t have any real problem with any romantic partnership if it’s semi well written. I liked Trip and T’Pol, though I like them even better in the novel tie ins that continued and fixed the mess that was the Enterprise finale. I also liked the O’Briens on Star Trek: The Next Generation. I like the idea of an established relationship between Stamets and his husband, the doctor.

What she actually like men no way!! I'm just assuming everyone is Gay or lesbian until told otherwise.

I think that would probably be viewed as unrealistic. Unless something has changed drastically in the human genome in 200 years, somewhere between 3 and 10 percent of the population might be gay. Of course, Burnham or Tilly might be among that group, but unlikely for it to be the whole ship.

As far as we know, there is one gay couple on the series. I'm not saying there's not a possibility that Burnham could be a lesbian... but I really doubt it.

I wonder if it validates a character to be shown in a relationship? This is the second thread I've read wondering if one of the characters should be seen to have a relationship. It's what we do, I guess.
...
You may notice certain trends as to which types of characters usually get a "should they have a relationship" thread, and which types usually don't.

Personally, I'm wondering if Saru, as the only whatever-he-is on a ship full of humans, should have a relationship with a human. Ah, of course! How about Burnham and Saru?

I've claimed Saru for myself.. just kidding.

You're right you know, when you're a lone alien on a ship of more grouped together other aliens, you have to go with the flow. I think Saru and Burnham are like brother and sister.

I can see it now:

Michael: But Saru, you're like a brother to me.
Saru: You know, among my people, it's perfectly okay for brothers and--
Michael: I said forget it!!

Lol..

Saru: “My people were biologically determined for one purpose alone: To sense the coming of death. I sense it coming now.”

He sounds like he'd be a fun ride!

If the show runs long enough I'm sure they will have her romantically linked to a guest star. Picard had romances with more women than you'd think considering he always is presented as a stoic, unlike the lothario Riker. Picard was romantically linked to Doctor Crusher, Kamala, Lt. Darren, Vash, and that lady in Insurrection.

Riker was romantically involved with several random crew members, and a variety of guest stars. Worf and Troi got together. Doctor Crusher, Yar, Odo & Kira, Bashir & Ezri, Dax and Worf, Paris and B'Lanna, the Doctor, Neelix & Kes, Sisko and Cassidy-- the teen sidekicks Wesley and Jake got some action, with Lefler and Mardah, respectively. Heck even the emotionless Data had a girlfriend!

Frankly, I'd be surprised if there was no romance at all for Burnham at some point.

To me it was the catsuit, boobs that are Hollywood big and reserved emotions and that she was created by Brannon Braga. Ony difference is I don't think the actress was as talented as Jeri Ryan so the Seven of Nine traits tend to define her more than even Seven of Nine.

Ehh, so what exactly are big-boobed actresses supposed to do?

Give up their acting ambitions because they have “Hollywood big boobs”? Get chest reduction surgery?

You’re being just as sexist as someone complaining about the lack of T&A on a sci-fi show.

Burnham had an incestious relationship with Spock...

Called it first!

This also explains why Spock never mentioned her, he buried the shame and embarrassment about Burnham DEEEP inside.

I didn't say big boobed woman can't act. I said that was no doubt a key reason though they selected her for the job, because it was another aspect she shared with Seven of Nine. Also it isn't just having big boobs but all the things combined that makes it clear that they were trying to create Seven of NIne 2.0.

Are you telling me that looks don't matter in Hollywood a great deal when a actor or actress is hired? I can think of many cases such as how Fox wanted a blonde to play Scully on "X-FIles" or how about the many actresses that go from skinny to looking like a Holocaust survivor because I guess that is what they think is hot? Men seem to have that same issue as well but just not as severe and at least they are allowed to age and not disapear once they turn 40.
