Voyager Season 5

I used to have a cat that had little tufts of fur on the tips of her ears I used to call her my lynx
It must have been a beautiful cat. I would like to have one myself.

Ever since I was a kid, I've always had a certain fascination for the lynx.

You need to get yourself a Maine Coon cat or Norwegian forest cat... that's about as lynx-like as it gets on the domestic scale
got a case of the Mooonnnnndayyysss? Awwww.
My dry wit has returned thanks to coffee and a hectic day at work. ;)

That's good, because people in that other forum(you know the one) have absolutely no sense of humor, and take themselves way to seriously.

Well, Course: Oblivion was a rather melancholy affair... :( I felt a bit downcast by the end of the ep, although Harry and Seven's makeup towards the end gave me a few chuckles to offset that gloomy feeling. It was interesting an episode though... can't say I disliked it, despite feeling a little mournful.

The next episode is like Voyager's version of "The Alternative Factor." It makes me feel like I'm losing my mind. It's hard for me to watch, but one sexy cast member, says he loves it(through sparkling white teeth).

There's a really good run of episodes after that, though. So stay tuned for Seinfeld, more theta radiation, a first date to make any man nervous, Y2K, Timecop starring not Jean Claude Van Dam, the return of dreadnought...with a vengeance, and Battlestar Galactica, Monday nights at 8, this season...on Voyager!

Another of my favorites. The ending was one of surprise for me. No reset, no happy ending, no memorial. Essentially a Starfleet crew lost to the void. Not a normal ending for the Trek of that day.

It is interesting to see how many people are shocked by this episode. I feel sorry for the alternate crew but it's not like I feel some kind of irreparable loss at the end of the episode. I think if they had stayed alive and made it back to Earth, it would have been a much bigger tragedy for the original crew, their relatives, friends ... and probably for the alternate crew eventually.

If that happened, the Pathfinder Project would never have gone forward like it did, and the original crew would never have had the comfort of those regular transmissions. That would have been tragic in some ways, too.

No matter how you slice it, COURSE: OBLIVION would have been a sad ending for someone.

Exactly... no happiness, no standard Star Trek optimism (though that is one thing I love about the series)... just sort of a grim realism, of sorts.

I wouldn't say I was shocked by it, per se, but it was sort of an atypical turn for a Star Trek ep... I appreciated it for being different. It's not often you get to see what happens to the "other side" or in this case the other Voyager crew after they left the Demon planet. I also liked that it bridged those two eps and served to further hold or intertwine the "fabric of the series" together, I guess.

Well, that sexy, white-teeth bearing cast member can love it and keep it. It wasn't my favorite, though I liked it okay. Beltran possibly should have hit up the weights a little more prior to filming, but maybe they don't have enough time when an ep is announced (thankfully, I will never have to deal with that form of work-related stress). He looked smoking, as per usual, but I wanted to see him with his SHIRT OFF. It's a boxing episode, for cripe's sake!

...Monday nights at 8, this season...on Voyager!

...only on U.P.N. (said in the voice of James Earl Jones).

Well, you hit the trivia button.

Beltran says in an interview, that when they asked him about doing a boxing episode, he told them "Give me a few weeks to hit the gym, to look the part." and they said "sure thing, buddy." And then the next day told him "Yeah, so we're gonna start filming that boxing story tomorrow."

Damn trivia button... well, at least my perception isn't totally out of whack. Wait, maybe it is, if I say that I would have preferred even "Chunky Chak" with his shirt off.

He couldn't take off the shirt, because then you'd be able to see the girdle he was made to wear.

BTW, sorry for spoiling The Fight. I guess I forgot all about that cool trick you taught me.

:guffaw: on the girdle (he's still hot, girdle or not, I don't care)... though I think he's not the only cast member wearing one.
No sweat on the spoiler.. if that was one actually. I'm resigned to taking them in stride at this point.

They had O'Brien take off his shirt for that one episode on DS9 where he was kidnapped and taken to Cardassia and he was rather....doughy...looking.

Flotter. They could have brought him and Trevus back in the 6th season and Naomi could have introduced the stories to Mezoti in an episode as part of a B story. I'd always wished Naomi's mother had adopted Mezoti, instead of her going with the twin boys who never said much of anything.

Juggernaut. I didn't like this one at first, but after watching it several times, it grew on me enough that I ended up writing a one-shot fanfic based on it filling in some plot holes.

Nothing Human had some good moral dilemmas and I would have liked to have seen Crell Moset again, as he was a fascinating character. And the doctor needed a friend, so he'd not bug the crap out of the rest of the crew with his slide shows.

Agreed...

And I watched Think Tank last night. Once I got past the fact that I would looking at George Costanza for most of the ep I found it pretty enjoyable.

Do you have a link for that fanfic?

My pace has been slowing down a little lately (and I'm waaay behind on my horror movie challenge too! Blast!), but I have watched a few VOY eps at least: Juggernaut, Someone to Watch Over Me, and 11:59.

Juggernaut was good and I had an interruption in the middle of it, so I might go back and rewatch it if can find the time since I was distracted a little for the 2nd half of the ep. B'Elanna has some temper on her...I like her character, but can't really relate to that emotional/reactive aspect of it. It was well-played here though imo. Also, the Malon look like they smell bad to me; they're the cruddiest aliens so far in the DQ.
I liked Someone to Watch Over Me as well, but it was like a pendulum swinging back and forth over cool/interesting and cheesy... maybe a tad more focus on what Janeway and Tuvok were up to when they were off the ship would have cut the cheese a little. ;) I'm having mixed feelings on the Doctor again (this happened back in season 2 or 3 and it resurfaced here). I like him, and think he's a smart and sensitive character, but then he has these almost creepy, obsessive moments involving women and it kind of turns me off. Good thing Seven is too naive in certain areas to notice this (yet anyway). Seven herself was great in this ep and I liked the guy she "dated"... poor guy. I also liked her reaction to Tomin when he came on to her during the reception. I would have (and have in the past in similar situations) reacted the same way.
11:59 was pretty forgettable to me... I love Janeway, but not these kinds of episodes. It bored me, although appeared to be well-acted, for the most part. Bottom line is I could care less and don't need that info going forward in the series. I can't see an area where I'd apply the events in this one to anything that happens in the future, but...
