You shouldn't

and btw there are worse things in this world than Trump

what is this 'regressive' phrase, it comes from Leftists, the Left critical of their own

seems like its the first time you heard this phrase?

Trump ? More your problem than mine.

Still taking it as a compliment.

Deliberately.

Funny how the producers said the Klingons were violent isolationists and racists and Trump supporters read that as "Trump supporters".

It wasn't just Trump supporters who did that, just read some of the posts here and the reviews.

Okay.. hit me. What what is wrong with sex? What is wrong with including good looking people in our future??
Nothing, of course. But more often than not the problem with the concept of “sex symbols” or “babes” on television shows is the objectification of women. And, you know, that's not good.

I think that SMG, Michelle Yeoh and Jason Isaacs are all pretty attractive people (to put it mildly).

I doubt very highly that anyone of them would be used as a sex symbol in the new series.

I do think it's amusing that people were whining in another thread...calling the sickbay scene "an example of the ENT decon scenes with SMG in her underwear." Give me a break, she was covered in radiation sores and wearing granny panties. I doubt it was meant to sexualize her.

I haven't noticed one yet. It's not that the lead actress isn't good looking but she hasn't been presented in that way as previous female characters have been. It's still early though.
In-universe, Trek won't get sexy until about 10 years from Discovery's pilot

I can get quite nasty when it comes to sexual objectification of women but yeah, the sickbay scene didn't bother me at all. Come on, she was wearing diapers. :p

It wasn't T'Pol in the decon chamber, Carol Marcus inexplicably changing in the shuttle, Kirk with his shaved chest and shirt off (haha) or Ellen Ripley at the end of Alien (although honestly, I think the "strip down" in Alien was more about terrifying vulnerability than sexualization)!!!

We all know who it is.

Only VOY and ENT had a regular character that served that purpose. That was the late nineties/early naught-ies mindset.

The other series only objectified guest characters of the week.

And enough real-world political squabbles already. I'm here to read about Star Trek.

Kor
TOS had plenty of eye candy, not to mention the miniskirts. According to Marina Sirtis, Yar was supposed to be the sexy one on TNG before Crosby left and it became Troi. (And she was definitely put in babe-ish outfits until she got a uniform.) DS9 may be the only other one without an obvious eye candy candidate.
We all know who it is.
